What we loved:
Maria and George. Great hosts. Maria especially seemed like she was always working. They definitely put their personal, physical effort into giving guests good service.
The proximity to the little town. So convenient! So many restaurant choices, etc.
The overall ambiance. So nice and laid back! Family friendly, low key. Exactly what we wanted from that standpoint.
What we liked: the beach town itself. Agios Prokopios. The beach was quite nice (although one day we discovered a couple others that were at least as nice).
What we didn't like: the particular area of the beach The Colosseo can be found. A bit pebblier than closer to town, which is offset by it being quieter, which is nice.
What we hated:
The smell from the swampy area. It permeated everything! I think there were other places we walked by frequently (walking through the town) that had similar proximity to the beach, but without that awful smell because they were positioned differently. And because the Colosseo hangs all the laundry out to dry (sheets, towels, etc) everything has that smell. Can't get away from it.
The "shower". It's really an extra large washtub with a little seat, with what amounts to a hose attached to the wall near by. So the setting was bad. And there was no water pressure at all -- really much like a weak garden hose. And there was very limited hot water. Here's how bad it was -- after leaving Naxos we got on a Blue Star Ferry and all took showers on board, and we all thought the lousy ferry shower was absolutely delightful.
