4/10 Fair

I checked in in the evening, but was locked out on the street for a fair amount of time. No one was at the front desk so I had to call and wait for someone to come let me in. It’s a great historic hotel, but could use some upgrades. It smells kinda musty. The toilet water keeps running. I stayed here a few years ago (like about 4) and had the same room with the same toilet issue- still not fixed. Restaurant attached to the hotel is closed. Not a safe downtown area. Too bad. I needed a quick stay, and this was the cheapest around. Guess you get what you pay for. I’ll go elsewhere next time.

Neat historic building. Room was by the hallway door, pretty noisy with people coming and going. Clean room, comfortable bed.

The Royal is a very unique and interesting place. The rooms are small because they are original from more than a hundred years ago. They have incredible antiques everywhere. While it's light on amenities and there is no elevator, it is rich with history.

I love older hotels. They bring a great deal of character and history as opposed to the sterile chain hotels. There was a really nice balance between the classic and the modern elements. It was a delightful stay and we will most certainly be back.

Royal hotel is a quaint, heritage site that has been carefully maintained and lovingly restored. The creaky floors are evocative of yesteryear, and the rooms are exceptionally clean and well-maintained.

The royal hotel was perfect for us as we were just passing through town, we were able to check in after midnight which was great as we were exhausted and most places don’t let you check in past 11pm. The price is decent for the age of the hotel. Sure it’s dated but it’s got character and what else do you expect from a building over 100 years old. Les greeted us at 12:30 am to let us in and check us in, he was very kind and helpful.

The Royal Hotel is within walking distance to local shops, restaurants and the museum. The building is old but has been in good maintenance and kept clean and tidy. The floor creaks. That adds to the charm. The furniture in the lobby and the old appliances on display give a sense of what it must have the hotel experience decades ago. Street parking is available but is limited. However, there are many 2- and 3-hour parking spots within a couple blocks.

Great heritage building very inconvenient location downtown. Friendly staff, some modern updates, but only Roku TV, and the thermostat could not be changed. The rooms are very small. Great for a quick overnight stay if sleep is all you need.

Pleasant Surprise
This hotel was a pleasant surprise, it was historic and charming, room was small and plain but clean and served our purposes. Parking was convenient right out front, it was priced well and I would stay there again.
