The traditional property had a good atmosphere and the staff were friendly. The system of taking a credit card number on booking and only taking the deposit a few days before the stay was nearly very problematic. My card issuer declined the transaction because I wasn't there to do the security checks. I nearly ignored the emails from the hotel about providing another card payment as spam and it was difficult as I was travelling.

Well Maintained Hotel near Excellent Restaurant
The hotel is located within 25m of a very good restaurant, Baklava. They serve very good Bolognese cuisine and is a must-try if you visit this city. I had a 3rd-floor room facing the courtyard, and it is void of traffic noise. I did not hear ambulance sirens (there is a hospital nearby) during my 2-night stay. The hotel could be reached by city bus* from the Bologna Train Station (Main) - there is another train station, Bologna S. Vitale, which is one station before the Main Station if coming in from Florence. *I mistakenly took an inter-city express bus which dropped me off at Bologna Rimesse stop, a 500m walk to the hotel. This was from a suggestion by a former guest at the hotel who posted his travel experience on this portal. The city bus is located in front of Baklava restaurant.

We had a fantastic experience at Hotel Liberty. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel was extremely clean and they had a great selection of options for breakfast. We took the train from Rome to Bologna and the transfer was an easy bus ride to reach the hotel. The only down side of staying in this area of Bologna is that you are NOT in the city center. It took us about 15-20 minutes or so to walk over to the center and after walking miles in both Rome and Florence we were used to it. We found some very nice restaurants in the area which were away from tourist areas, which were very good. Highly recommend this hotel!

Good Hotel, Close to Bologna University District
Good hotel close to the University District. Staff were friendly. They even went out of their way to set-up an ironing station to press clothes. It was greatly appreciated. Would stay here again. Only thing is I wish they could have kept the breakfast open until at least 10:30 AM.

Closed to the hospital in Bologna.
We stayed one night in the hotel. I chose it for the location as we needed to visit someone at the hospital, which is just opposite the hotel. When we checked out, we were told the amount to be paid. So I paid cash. Upon return home, I checked my credit card and an amount has also been taken for the one night also. Am waiting to get my refund as I should not be paying double.

Very far from the center (also in the web site it says in the center). the acoustic is to be desired. you can hear everything in the corridor and in the next room. the room is small to a point that you can't fit a suitcase (I don't know if it's a;; of them or not but main was. the water pressure is poor as well. the breakfast was great. My room had a balcony which was great for smokers but I don't think every room has one.

Nice hotel in walking distance of University of Bologna. There was a convenient bus service nearby. The hotel was near a co-op. Hotel staff were friendly and spoke good English. The room was nice; however, the bathroom was too small. The WiFi in the room worked well. Overall a good stay.
