Surprisingly modern and new interior despite the history of the hotel. Very comfortable and convenient to neighbouring famous sight seeing spots. The pier of the pirate boat trip is 30seconds walk, actually can see the boat at hotel room. Plenty of parking slots for free parking. Easy access to nearby areas by walking/bus/ driving. Decent French dinner

Awesome Hakone Stay
The hotel is impressive, very well maintained in common areas. There is a very nice lounge with great views. The location is phenomenal, you can see the pirate ships moving about the lake. The room was very spacious and had an amazing view. The on-site public onsen also had a great view. Note that if you do not get dinner on the property most restaurants in Hakone closed at 4pm it seemed (assuming guests are staying at a Ryokan?).

Well managed traditional hotel with beautiful surroundings, well placed to explore the sights of the Hakone area. However, the hotel would benefit from some modernisation, for instance aircon in our room could not be individually regulated/turned off. The hotels is very peaceful. There is nothing like ending your night on the grass while looking at the Mt. Fuji sunset. We loved our stay. They even included kids skippers. The onsen has Mt Fuju views depending the day you go. The rooms are big, I recommended the water view.

We reserved Junior Suite with a balcony and view of the lake. Our room was spacious and the view was gorgeous. The room was also very spacious and comfortable. Hakone Hotel is walking distance to the Hakone shrine (which is also easily accessible by bus) as well as the Hakone Checkpoint and Onshi-Hakone Park. We highly recommend this hotel!
