The Lodge at Bear Mountain
We loved the ambience and rustic cabin decor. There were no ADA accommodations in this room. Because of our age and illness we’d ask for an ADA room next time. Beautiful drives north and south. We went to the FDR home and Vanderbilt mansion, a little shopping in the area and a t’shirt or two from the Lodge shop, of course. Great diners in the area, too.

The lodge was far away from the Inn, which is not convenient for a hiker. The tv did not work and the building was tired.

Come for the setting not the room
As you would expect given the nature of Overlook Lodge, the room was not up to modern standards. It was tiny and did not have a desk. The bathroom was very small with no place for toiletries. The walls were thin and you could hear people come and go outside. But the scenery and setting are gorgeous. So if you are willing to put up with the inconvenience and not have to spend any extra time in the room it is worth it. The 1915 Restaurant in the main hotel, a very pleasant half mile walk from the Overlook Lodge, was excellent.

Didn’t like not having food onsite. Coffee maker didn’t work. Room was humid and somewhat smelled. Not enough towels. At the Inn the brunch was WAY too costly. That is crazy. For that amount you should have been given alcoholic drinks, Bloody Mary’s, mimosa’s etc.
