Unable to stay at this place.
It did not like a hotel. It looked like a haunted house.
Empty, dirty, and no staff.
It is surprising that Expedia has this on the list of hotels to stay in.
No air condition for the past 3 years and we found out about it when we got there. The whole building has no a.c.

Disappointing
Checkin was great reception friendly and helpful
Room seemed ok at first. Old fashioned but functional. However on going to bed putting the air conditioner on the noise was terrible. Could not get wifi to work tried to call reception the phone did not work. So no sleep no wifi and broken phone. The next morning on check out reported to reception response was why didn’t you check when you first went to the room if you had we would have offered another room. Told WiFi is only in common areas! I found the fact they expect the paying guest to check the room odd I have never gone into a hotel room with a check list before and never will these thing should be checked by housekeepers not the guest. Should we have gone to the night reception and complained yes but we were already changed when we discovered the problems. As for this being a four star hotel I hear stayed in better 2 or 3 stars this is no way a 4 star. This hotel should be removed from your site as I feel it is mis- represented
Even the bed sheets had holes in it

The bathroom was dirty, at the bottom of the shower door was very dirty, you could see that no one took the time to clean it. The people at the front desk, specially a young guy had no patience.

The beds were ancient. Pillows were 100 years old. Not hotel quality at all. Air conditioning was terrible. We were very uncomfortable there. Could not sleep. Could not wait to leave. I would not go back there. Parking was not great as advertised either.

Great hotel, intermediate location
We visited off season, and the weather was poor. But employees were friendly, attentive, and helpful. We wanted a hotel near Messina for an early mornung ferry departure and the Viola Palace fit the bill.

Nice hotel. Not near any restaurants, dinner at hotel was good, not great. Service OK. Room was clean, ample enough in size. Walked to church on Saturday night which was convenient. Parking was very close to hotel.

Terrible place to stay
We pre-paid two nights at the hotel and got out of there as quickly as we could. Staff was inhospitable and unprofessional. They emailed us really poor directions to the hotel from Messina. The locals could not figure them out. Upon arrival, the front desk representative tried to convince us to rent a car which we declined. We asked for directions to a nice beach in walking distance. After 30 minutes of walking we are told that it would be another hour to get there. Could not find a restaurant on the way back because he sent us away from the town. He reiterates that we should have rented a car when we returned. We basically wasted a day of our vacation with this hotel and left first thing in the morning. Do yourself a favor and go to Cefalu like we did. It's a hidden gem!

Nice place close to the Highway
They gave us a nice room away from the Highway with a good view. The restaraunt was nice but not much else to do in town for one night during the off season.

Stopover for the ferry
Overall, a 2-star rather than a 4-star hotel.
Apart from the size of the room, which was above average, nothing else distinguished the hotel from the regular Etap or other budget chains.
Internet was barely working.
Breakfast very poor (apart from pastries, nothing else could be eaten).

Location outside Messina, quite area
The staff is extremely helpful by showing us the way to Punto Blue in Google map, as we miss to pay the toll and worry about the penalty. Breakfast was good, room was clean! Close to Supermarket.

Very Good Value
I found this to be excellent value for money. It had a small kitchen area, it was clean, and looked very nice, and was a great location for a stop to see the Vallei dei Templei, half way between Trapani and Syracusa on our trip around Sicily. The large balcony had a great view of the seaside, and there was a drying rack which was a big help to dry my handwashing. Breakfast buffet was very good, and the art on the walls was very nice photos of the temple ruins. Staff were outstanding.

A gem of a hotel!
What a gem of a hotel. For North American travellers you swear you were in a hotel at home. Lovely appointed, value priced and very helpful staff. We would plan our holiday around staying at the Viola next time. Congratulations to their staff and owners for such a lovely property at such a value price!

Unexpected Jem
Really a terrific experience. The hotel stands as a jewel in (for Americans on holiday) an otherwise crowded and (typical) old fishing village. We were honestly concerned as we drove off the autostraude to the directed location as to the other facilities near the hotel but we're very pleased to discover a new, well maintained facility, separate, off street, gated parking and a very willing and helpful staff (ours was certainly broken Italian at best#. Rooms were clean, functional. Breakfast was convenient and delicious. The distance from the Messina city center is/was just perfect for us #althought the toll on and off is at the hotel's location so a little more confusion in what is a daily list of confusing and taxing drives in Italian traffic).
Overall, we're very pleased with our hotel experience.

Ottimo il parcheggio all'interno dell'hotel. Colazione a mio avviso da migliorare in generale. Da segnalare la cortesia e gentilezza del personale preposto al servizio.
