Not bad great food
Hotel was decent. Food was great. Rooms have two bathrooms, but are pretty basic with small beds and small TV's. Nice pool area, pretty nice beach. Kinda set away from everything.

Unfriendly to USA guests
The structural hotel itself was lovely. The staff was not accommodating to English speaking guests. A desk clerk who greeted us and checked myself and another family traveling with us spoke some English however he lied about the hotel not taking American dollars. The shop and the bar staff as well. Later we found out they DID in fact take American currency. We did exchange some money before travelling to Euros, but, not enough. He sent us after traveling all day on a 25 minute ride to the 'only' bank that would exchange. Upon island travel to view this Beautiful island we found friendly folk and all took our money and we're shocked to hear we had trouble at the hotel. We tried to get help from the hotel 'tour guide' as well. She told us there was no place to parasail, jet ski, horseback ride, etc....And that all excursions from the hotel were booked. Later we found a resident who told us other places to go and we wound up having a wonderful time off of the hotel grounds. The hotel brags of its beach....It has no beach affiliated with it and we 'got chastised' for taking the towels to the beach directly behind the grounds past the pool. The beach hut grill was filled with equally nasty staff who would snicker at any attempt we made to communicate. We even used our phones to translate to French and say what we needed/wanted. The staff there and at the buffet were aloof, slow, grumpy, and unhelpful. There were 6 of us. Not once did they set is correctly. All very Disappointing.

Positive 2nd Stay in Martinique
Pros: Great Breakfast, pizza shop nearby, great service, nice gift shop, infinity pool, towels, wifi, room size, fridge, two baths, beach restaurants, balcony view, and secluded beaches. Cons: Small ants in room (bring bug spray), bring wash clothes, limited English TV, and very challenging walk to beach (hills & rocky). Would definitely stayed again.

Beautiful setting on the sea but not a resort
On the sea, short walk to 4+ public beaches with plenty of shade. 3 well maintained pools are on the Karybea property. Hotel is 5 minutes from town of Sainte Luce which has several good restaurants. 30 minutes from airport. Staff friendly and front desk staff speak English. Little information about the hotel or its services is provided and there is almost no info in English. Martinique is part of France and almost all of the guest are from France or Quebec. Rooms are clean but dated despite recent renovation. Linens are old and limited. All have sleeping area, seating area, and terrace/balcony. Our room overlooked the sea and had 2 bathrooms. WiFi in room as well as small flat screen TV with French channels. Breakfast buffet included in room rate. Good fresh fruit, great bread, terrible instant coffee. Hotel has one restaurant which only serves buffet meals. We ate there on arrival and food was mediocre at best and overpriced. No table service. Rent a car and visit local restaurants and beach grills which are great. Very few if any activities provided by hotel with the exception of music and dancing at night with DJ or local band. Bottom line even though we don't speak French and the hotel wasn't great, we loved Martinique. It's beautiful, people are friendly. It's clean and standard of living is better than on most of the islands plus the food is the best we have had in the islands. So we are definitely coming back and we may return to the Karybea.

Not as described on website
My two adult daughters and I stayed here for a week over Christmas 2015. The hotel website indicated that renovations had been completed. We had booked this hotel for its two restaurants and snack bar offering options for meals. This was a major issue for us with conflicting information from the hotel staff and the restaurant staff. Only the main restaurant was open all week and the nearby small restaurants off the property were closed most of the week. The only option for lunch was a 32 euro buffet and the only option for dinner was a 35 euro buffet (100 euros on Christmas Eve). Breakfast buffet was included with our room. It was the same every day but had fresh fruit. We had changed our room on arrival to a different Jr. Suite because of wifi issues. Wifi was sporadic. The room was small and the kitchenette on the balcony was disappointing. The room was cleaned daily. Maintenance requests were addressed. The twin beds had comfortable foam mattresses. The satellite TV was in the bedroom and only had French stations. Bring electrical adapters! The water was safe to drink from the tap. The store on site only offered a couple of bagged snack items, so my daughter took a taxi to the store. The taxi driver, Philip, was prompt and courteous. We used the pool nearest the lobby. It was warm and clean with plenty of chairs. Steps in the pool were not marked and bathrooms by the pool were closed. Beaches were nearby but most were rocky and had strong waves. One was good for kids.

Budget Motel Pretending to be A Resort.
The purpose of this review is to explain why I cut my trip short. FOOD: This was one of my major complaints. The only food available was the restaurant, which serves expensive buffet meals. No ala carte. THE ROOMS: I stayed in a room with two twin beds. The mattress was five inches thick. The bedding was thin and worn as were the graying towels. (And the towels, like everything else were strictly rationed.)It was like a Motel 6 circa 1979.The complementary toiletries were only a small shampoo and a small soap. Not even lotion. The "sea view" was a view of a construction site. SERVICE: This hotel does nothing it make guests feel comfortable. No one is available to help you with your bags. No poolside drink service. When you do take a drink from the bar to the pool or your room, you are told that you must return the empty glass to the bar. There are no little extra touches to make you feel welcome. RANDOM: During dinner there was a fashion show (?) in which very young women paraded around in bikinis while male guests took photos and applauded. INSULT TO INJURY: When I made clear my plans to leave early, they would not refund me a dime. (You know it was an unpleasant experience if I would come back to winter in New York three days early!)

Close to the beach but you need a car
Lovely welcoming staff. Hotel unfinished. That was good in that it will be too big when fully open with 300 rooms. Lovely position. Good breakfast - combination of French croissants and Caribbean fruit. The rooms with kitchenettes were great for self catering and were large with two shower rooms.

Mittelgroßes, ruhiges Hotel in Strandnähe
