6/10 Good

Bad service, bad food. Not worth the money
We stayed for 6 days and every day the breakfast service was terrible. The buffet was not replenished and items were missing (water, coffee, pastries, bread, fruit) as you can see from the photos taken around 8am (mid service). When I asked for water I was told they only provide one large bottle and it was all gone. I insisted I wanted water and was told to wait there. Took 10 minutes to come. Eggs orders took 10-25 minutes to arrive. All floor staff bar one were rude. No eye contact, no greeting, no smiles. We felt they resented us for being there. Quality of food at restaurant was below average (example: catch of the day was frozen fish). Waited at the bar for a bottle of beer for 25 minutes (only 3 people ahead of me). Only friendly floor staff member is Varinosece. WIFI available only at lobby, pool and restaurant, not in rooms. On Sunday the system was down at the restaurant and pool. IT guy was on his day off, so this was only fixed on Monday. Lobby staff were very friendly, especially Tiger. House keeping staff were very friendly, however mid stay they ran out of towels and took a few hours to get new towels. The state of the place is run down and tired. In need of renovation. We spoke to a few other guests and they felt the same. We ended up walking 40 minutes to the supermarket and bought food to avoid eating at the restaurant. We are not sure the staff work conditions, but they are clearly very unhappy. Very disappointing. We will not come back.

2/10 Poor

Not worth of the lower price
The property is run down resort, with nice setting in tropicsl greeneey on the positive side. However there is lot of garbage (pet bottles in the greenery), cigarette butts in front of the bures, stray dogs and cats, the swimming pool with murky water. Breakfast choice limited (no bananas, no vegetables). Security is also an issue (one day I returned to the room to find my in-room safe was open). It is questionable if it is worth the distance from the Nadi airport (1,5 hrs), especially when the sea here is not swimmable - there is huge tide difference btw low and high. During low tide you have to walk a kilometer to get to the sea. Bures are spacious and equipped with AC/fan/kettle and fridge. However, it is not even worth the low price (comparable to upscale resorts closer to the Nadi airport). I would not choose this resort again. I booked for three nights and had to find other place to feel more relaxed and safe.

First timer!
The Hideaway is a hidden gem! We stayed at both beach front bure#49(mini villa) and the beach front villa#303 during our recent stay. The resort is in a seed area, well kept, you are greeted upon arrival w/ a welcome punch and a drum roll, staff are very welcoming and warm. It does provide shuttle service to and from airport with a surcharge. They offer laundry service w/a fee, cook to order breakfast with a fee along w/continental spread, lunch, dinner, and bar service. They have resort activities and performance and served toasted coconut sampler at 2:30pm everyday and have a waterslide for adults and kids. Rooms are very basics and outdated. However, the breathless view of the pacific water hitting the seawall is priceless/compensates for the outdated decor. You literally can swim in the ocean less than 20ft away from your front door. Other resorts claim beach front, but what they don't tell you is you may have to walk 10-15 mins to get to the beach. They have daily housekeeping and 3 restaurants that serves decent food. They also have daily menu to choose from. They have an ice cream parlor which opens daily. All staff in the Hideaway are amazing, but special shout outs to Vole,Sweeny,Solome,Silo, Hilary, Etta, Arietta S.,Frances,Dan,Mare Wai. If you are a pet lover, beware! The resort banned guests from feeding the strays which they are also the sweetest cats and dogs around. Just like any tropical places, expect lizards, frogs, mosquitos, roaches, and other bugs.

Who on earth gave this Hotel 4 stars? It's outdated, food is below average and overpriced, the safe in the room did not work still waiting for maintenance to fix, asked for non smoking bure, had someone smoking next door, there were only 2 bath towels in the room had to ask for bathmat and handtowels, no soap to wash your hands, no tissues. The pool the water was dirty/mirky. If it wasn't for the staff we would have left the next day, the ladies from the dining room are amazing Francis, Sweeny, Lala to name a few..Hotel is owned by Tour Managers so that explains a lot, would I come back NOOOO.

Do not waste your money. This property came with good reviews, but if you’re after the authentic Fijian experience you won’t find it here. The staff have lost their ‘Bula Spirit,’ and do not smile or make eye contact. It’s sad that they are so unhappy, but it also ruined our holiday. There is so much potential, but sadly the water in the taps is brown and will make you sick - but bottled water wasn’t available to purchase and water in the dining room was constantly empty / no drinking vessels provided. The pool is murky and green and not checked or maintained. Departments do not communicate. Pool towels are non existent as they don’t get washed and guests have to wait. We received no check in information, welcome drink and waited until 5pm for our room to be ready. All hospitality was very poor (we are used to fiji time, but sadly the staff just don’t care, it was beyond a joke), Serving staff will do anything to avoid you. Happy hour is during dinner time ?? And you get $1 off drinks if they remember… and during 5-6pm when everyone comes to the bar they have only one person serving so all the other staff can have a break? Which again, leads to poor service when guests are 10 people deep waiting for a drink. Two of the 3 restaurants are closed (no mention of this) as well as parts of the spa / pool area. Overall incredibly disappointing. The staff are what makes an experience and it’s sad to see your staff so miserable.

As has been stated by others, the resort is nice and the staff are very friendly and helpful but there are signs the property requires updating and in some cases repair and maintenance. Some evidence of insect infestation in Bure? The local area is poor and the nearest town requires transport to reach. Still had a wonderful time though Vanaka!

-Outdated property - Food / Restaurant more like street food but with ridiculously high price this is same for drinks not suitable for a family on a budget - Room basic and water came out brown from taps and pool also brown and unable to use - They gave one bottle of water per room, that would help wash teeth and shower no sorry we had to buy and 4x bottles of water nearly $30 We left early with no credit due to there terrible condition and stayed our remaining time in a beautiful hotel near airport Will not ever come back to this location
