we were told that we had no reservation
When we arrived at the hotel we were told that we had no reservation. Our trip was a family trip with two children. We showed them the photocopy of the reservation, they were not satisfied and demanded that I show them the original email (on my mobile phone) and that I call my tour operator, which I did.
Finally they put me up (after three hours at the hotel reception) in a hotel that did not have the characteristics I had chosen. The hotel in question was under construction (Novotel). The tour operator commented that the taxi journeys had to be paid for by the contracted hotel. The taxi driver told us that we had to pay for them ourselves. I am still waiting for reimbursement.
It is terrible to arrive at a long booked hotel with two children and have no accommodation. I think this kind of overbooking practices should be highly punishable by law.
