Hutchinson Sky Palace
this hotel is amazing. decorated in a very beautiful unique style. wonderful bed and bedding. Hot tub is clean and big. Pool is nice. Owner Chris is very super friendly. He even helped is with our car and would not allow us to give him money. He bent over backwards more than once to see that our need were met. This is the best place to stay in Hutchinson. DONT LET THE EXTERIOR FOOL YOU!! This hotel is our new go to for Hutchinson. Great job!!!!

👎👎
Booked due to limited availability elsewhere for state fair weekend. We figured a bed was a bed and it wouldn’t be that bad. WRONG! We got in late the first night, there was group of guys loitering/drinking in the parking lot. Lots of yelling that continued for hours after the front desk person said he’d already talked to them and they were leaving. The pool looked like a swamp. The room left much to be desired. Carpet is gross and sticky. Lighting is very limited, especially in the bathroom. In trying to locate plug ins for phone charging, we found a power strip (not even a surge protected power strip) was placed under all of the pillows the middle bed… electrical fire waiting to happen! The dining table is physically located inside the closet. The couch looked straight out of the 70’s. The bathroom door wouldn’t close all of the way. There’s a train that runs right by this hotel and we were awoken by the noise/horn 4 times in the night. Luckily we found an airbnb that would accommodate us for the second night and we left early. Wouldn’t recommend even if you’re in a bind for somewhere to lay your head.

Growing up in this area, I was familiar with this hotel as it WAS. I never had need to stay there -- but also probably wouldn't have. The upgrades, renovations, attention to details (inside/outside) were surprising for the price. Definitely not 5 star but well worth the investment. The only reason I didn't give a FULL 5 star is primarily due to check-in (3pm): I arrived appx 3:10pm. Nobody was there with no sign, "bell", etc. After waiting a few minutes, I called the only number listed in the office/desk. The man who answered simply said, "There's nobody there, but I'll be there in about 15 minutes." I had no choice but to wait. (I'd already paid. Non-refundable.) He did finally arrive. He did "upgrade" my room to a king and accommodated my ground floor request. Otherwise, my stay was fairly quiet and uneventful (good shower, comfortable bed, TV worked great, 2 complimentary waters in the fridge, clean inside and out, etc.). Would recommend for an economy stay just know there appears to be no full-time desk staff, so you may wait... or, if there's a maintenance issue... It's a trade, I suppose. :)

Good stay, great guests service
The service was great. The manager noticed my kids went swimming and brought extra towels to the room without being asked. The hotel is older ,but is in the middle of a renovation so there was work being done but it didn't impose on us. The area looks a bit sketchy but there are security cameras and it is well lit so we didn't feel anxious. One of the best breakfast places in town is only a few blocks away; try the pancakes.

This was about the cheapest property in the area and it shows. If I had paid more, I would have expected more - but got what $50 a night would offer. The gentleman at check in was very friendly and personable and seemed to be working on renovating rooms. Our room was clean except for a few dead flies on the window sill. Each room had its own banquet-style chair outside the door next to make shift ash tray/cups on the AC units. The beds had dark colored sheets, which was different. The shower/bath tub was slippery and I almost fell a couple times but caught myself. There was no hot water at 7:45 in the morning. The room waste basket had a Walmart bag as a liner - but I do that at home with my bathroom cans. I found the bed to be soft but the rest of my party said they were TOO soft and not much support. Breakfast was next to nothing - some cereal selections, donuts cut in half and yogurt. We opted for the Golden Arches across the street. Perhaps the most concerning were the 6 or so patrol cars that pulled in lights and sirens 20 minutes after we checked in. They all went to the office but unknown why. They cleared after a half hour.
