Smoke detector was beeping overnight. Nobody on site after 9PM to address. Our door didn’t shut well and we were unable to bolt the door.

The property has no right to be booking rooms with major renovations going on. Shabby and dirty common areas are off-putting. The check in person is unhelpful and not accommodating, given the conditions. Dreadful experience

Beautiful historic building with antique furnishings. We had a large bedroom with a king sized bed. The room was clean and well appointed. The location was good as we could walk to the downtown restaurants. The reception was less than ideal. We surveyed both building before finding the checkin area that was unmanned. A sign indicated a phone number to call for service. The employee did come immediately but there was no greeting. She was helpful and gave us restaurant suggestions. Some signage might be helpful to let clients know where to checkin. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

In general, it was a pleasant stay. Two caveats:
Parking was sometimes difficult.
Staff was often unavailable.

No stars.
This is a very old building with no amenities. They don’t have bath mat, no chairs in the room, no hangers or closet. No dark out curtains, the sun rises at 5 am. We couldn’t find fresh water. Minimal breakfast. Not much in town.

Very disappointed with this property. The reception/front desk area was unwelcoming, unkempt, and dirty. The property was unkempt and very tired. We were in a secondary building and the entrance was dirty. Our room was clean as was our bathroom. Furniture was old and very dated. There was no chair in our room. There was really nothing appealing about the property, common areas, or our room - and it was expensive.

Beautiful suite, amazing ambiance, super friendly hosts... and really great coffee!

Acceptable, but will look for other options first
Convenient and walkable to many stores and restaurants in Montpelier (and a very adequate restaurant on site). Room was across driveway in annex building and was a bit dull. Thermostat in room was non-functional and there was no staff readily on site to assist when we returned to our room after dinner (and found it too hot). Windows were sealed.

There was no coffee in the morning and then just one small pot. The person setting up the breakfast barked "I am getting it" When I asked for the coffee service.
Restaurant seems to be the priority over the inn

Charm of a lovely VT inn within an easy walk to downtown Montpelier. Very clean. Would have been nice to have a place to sit and work in our room but did have a common space just outside it.

Lovely place, centrally located, considerate innkeeper (who was also a great bartender! Be sure to check out the intriguing collection of cocktails). Only flaw was that it required a bit of an expedition for us to get coffee in the morning and I just happen to be one of those people who cannot function without it. If you arent, you will have a lovely time.
