This was our second stay at The George and expectations were met again. We dined at The George our first night. They have an excellent German Chef who makes some tasty dishes. They have a bar as well with a good selection. We stayed in Grande suite and loved that it was separated from the main house. It has plenty of space for two people. A quick drive to the Strand and the Harbour. We loved it.

Graham was an excellent host, the included English breakfast was awesome, and we slept just fine. Good location and far enough from the strand where the nightlife wasn't bothersome. Overall a very nice experience and if I ever take a cruise from this port again ill certainly stay at The George Manor.

The staff and stay at GM, was amazing. The apartment was quaint and cute and had everything we needed. I can’t say enough about James. He’s a historian and knows everything TX and more… from carrying our bags, picking us up from the airport, taking us to the ship and will pick us up again and take us to the airport. Thank you James!! Valerie made our arrangements for driver services and explained accommodations, which was great! Rosie is like 5 people in 1. She’s housekeeping, waitress, and will carry your luggage too. She’s super human. Her husband chef Michael made a delicious breakfast. The grounds and up keep are beautiful. I recommend and will return. 5 stars.

4/10 Fair

DIY moldy nightmare
Do people who like bed and breakfasts simply have low standards? This was not even close to a 10/10 property. We stayed in the "Grand Suite." Far from grand. Maybe all of the 10/10 reviews are from stays in the main house. There are two outbuildings, and the Grand Suite is one of the 4 rooms available detached from the main house. The exterior of the building looked like somewhere you might stay for a summer camp. The worst part was the interior. We were immediately greeted with mold/mildew smell in the room, as the host quickly moved to crank up the two AC units. Cooler temperature doesn't fix mold/mildew smell, which was pervasive the entire stay. My wife made an effort to breathe through her shirt the entire time. I get it's an old structure. If you like to smell humid, wet, rotting wood, this is the place for you. The room definitely has gone through the "landlord special" treatment. Have an imperfection? Nothing painting over can't fix. The bathroom was the worst part. Clearly a cheap DIY or hire-cheap-labor job. Tiny big-box store vanity. The bathtub and shower door doesn't stay closed because it's on a hill. Who needs a level structure. Standing in the bathtub to shower, I was worried I was going to fall through the bathtub, since it doesn't have support and bends under a person's weight. I should've taken a picture of the shower fixtures. Probably the worst job and caulking I've ever seen. We were surprised the hot breakfast was free. Enjoy!

Great Stay
The visit was so amazing. The staff was very friendly and a joy to talk with. James spoke about some of the history of the manor as well as a few historical facts from Galveston and surrounding areas as he drove us to and from the cruise terminal.
