Good stay
First night in pub with difficult stairs was my fault for not double checking booking. Got a room in motel section for next 3 nights and it was good

A little quirky but great
was a little dubious about the hotel when I walked in as the lobby area looked very "unfinished" However I needn't have worried, it was part of the "look". The bedroom was excellent and the shared facilities top class. As it's above the bar don't be surprised if there is some noise from downstairs and if you look out over the veranda expect to hear noise from the kitchen which is on the veranda! Having tried the bar food and range of beers I can thoughrly recommend both. Pity they don't do breakfast but there are a couple of excellent coffee shops in walking distance.

Great for stopover but is noisy on weekends with live bands til midnight. Bring your earplugs! Comfy bed and shared bathroom all nice and clean.

6/10 Good

Very clean, with very comfortable beds. Unfortunately, on a Friday night there is a band playing downstairs, so sleeping was not an option until about midnight.

On my first night there was a dart party outside my room. The darts were hitting the outside wall of my room. This party went on until 11pm. When I complained I was told you are in a Hotel It's something you have to deal with. That's I was out of line to complain !?
Derek, 4-night trip

2/10 Poor

The system to get into the room was not working after 3 different codes. Wotif did not advertise that it was a shared bathroom. Would not have booked had I know. Drove home at 11pm. Fire hazard no escape route from room 30
Karen, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

Was very noisy til past 1.30am both Friday and Saturday night. Son needed a good night sleep due to a sporting event and was awake til very late. Power also went out at 7.30am and was not advised.
Lisa, 3-night trip

My room in the hotel was comfy and clean and the bed was very comfortable however, no hanging place was available. There were 2 holes on the inside of the door but no hook[2]
Roger, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Very disappointed cupboards that no handles although you'd not be able to open even if they'd been there as side table jammed in mould in bed base stains on coverlet blanket on base of bed overall grotty nit as portrayed on site sadly
Leanne, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

The time I stayed somewhere worse was in 1990 in San Francisco. It was a motel room with wet carpet and a foul smell. The Metropolitan's carpet wasn't wet, but it was dirty and hadn't been vacuumed in days, possibly weeks. It did have a bad smell, and opening the window wasn't an option as it opened onto a closed-in balcony, with tables and chairs that anyone could use. There was nothing in the room apart from a bed, an old two-seater and a crooked TV. I can imagine in their day the shared bathrooms were nice, and brass tapware goes a long way, but not far enough to make up for so many other shortcomings. The Metropolitan is a classic example of false-economy, the damage to my psych was far greater than the difference between the Metropolitan and any other motel in town. Sorry, but it's true. They should either close these rooms or give the whole floor a complete makeover.
