It got off to an unfortunate start! I had stayed a few years ago and had a very nice clean warm room - this time when I arrived I had been given a very unattractive room and just felt very let down - there was even signs that someone had not flushed the lavatory. I felt so strongly I went down to reception and eventually spoke to someone in authority who was very understanding and helpful and moved me to another room - just like the one I had had before. So it turned out o.k. I think there had been a little misunderstanding with the girl I spoke to first.
I do not have a smart phone and am too old to learn new tricks but I did not understand how when I made the booking online I had made the booking not directly with Holiday Inn - I will try to remember to go to IHG next time. I had, for complicated reasons, wanted to cancel my second night (the party I had come up from Edinburgh for was suddenly a lunch not a dinner!) but was unable to because I had apparently and unwittingly booked through some other agent. Lesson learned I hope! Apart from that, I would recommend the Holiday Inn Express to others. Nice room (eventually!) and hearty breakfast.
