Aira 55 Hotel - something good for every guest.
Excellent location. Friendly staff. Great rooms with balcony. Right next to Palermo Centrale Station. Perfect for travellers. Breakfast has something for everyone. Pavement tables with views of station busyness. Recommend this hotel. I liked how local workers -including TrenItalia Staff - dropped into the hotel for Coffees & Cornettos.

The convenience for transport links is impossible to improve upon. From many of the rooms at AIRA55 Hotel you can see the train platforms and the trains themselves arriving and departing. People may not know but you may board a train just 5 minutes from your room at AIRA55 Hotel and then alight from that same train in the Italian Capital - in ROME ! Depending on your precise route in a car that amounts to a journey of around 1,000 kilometres. How can we take a train across the sea to Reggio Calabria from Messina, Sicilia ? Because they put the train carriages onto the ferry. That’s how. One of only two such remaining services in Europe. AIRA55 Hotel is also just as near to the Main Bus Stations. From these spots it is possible to travel across Sicilian and beyond. My advice ? Walk. Take water with you in Summer, wear a hat and explore on foot the streets around AIRA55. These walks will reward you. Mentioning two special places. One is Caffe VABRES. (You have to find it.) Arrancini worth walking for. Dolche ? Same. Atmosphere ? Lovely. Like the staff. Alessandro, Antonio, Manuel. (Manuel travelled to the Saatchi Gallery in Central London to train new coffee baristas. Do you get the picture ? Special mention for their style and positivity working AIRA 55 Reception are: ROSALBA & DANYA. It would not be right to compare smiles. (Let us just remark that … Both make above the grade required for the job ). Night Managers Massimo & Ricardo do a fin

Our first room, the A/C unit would not turn on so they moved us to a new room. Unfortunately, they moved us down to the first floor. Others have reported the noise level—we listened to people screaming, cars honking, sirens, scooters racing—all night long. The new room had a working A/C unit, but it didn’t really work well. Part of the reason for the noise and lack of A/C is the face that to rooms don’t have “real” windows—just two sets of shutters that never close all the way. Not fond of the pillows— one inch of flat foam—and beds, although numerous, were not especially comfortable. This is a two-star hotel at best and you are paying for the proximity to the train station. Front desk was super helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very crowded and served mostly baked goods with hard boiled eggs and some meat and cheese. The hotel seems to be popular with families and groups, probably because each room has multiple beds. I would only stay here again if I had an warly travel connection. It wasn't bad, just loud and not especially comfortable.

Would not stay again.
This hotel is very close to the train& bus station it was very noise from lots of traffic from cars buses motorbike and people. There was a large number of teenagers staying at the hotel which was noise. We were unable to get breakfast as at 7.45 again large numbers of children in the eating area. We had to use the stairs as again large numbers of people were staying at this hotel during the lift .

Great base for rail travel
This hotel was the perfect base for rail travel around the island , as the rail station was 2 minutes away. The hotel was basic , clean and well equipped. Staff were friendly, helpful and very pleasant.

The location is just beside the train/bus station, which makes it very good to use Palermo as a base to visit other places in Sicily.

Rated a 4 star hotel. The best I would give is 1 star. Not clean even though it says they sanitize, haven't seen that. Don't change the bedding only straighten the sheets and cover out. Shower leaked all over the floor to the sink. Would not recommend.
