I am a first time traveler to Japan and Hotel New Otani was my first proper hotel that I have stayed longer than 24 hours besides The Royal Park at Haneda Airport which I had stayed only 6 hours after my flight from Bangkok….. Gym hours are inconvenient
Overall, the hotel is a decent, if non-descript, option in Makuhari for attending/working an expo at the Makuhari Messe. The restaurants were good. However, the hours of the physical fitness facility, 12-8 pm and closed on Monday, are terribly inconvenient. If working the expo, and then going to dinner with co-workers (which happened almost every night of my stay), it is impossible to use the gym. The hotel needs to expand the gym hours to be at least 6am - 10pm every day.
