Book here, you won’t be disappointed.
A lovely, clean and safe hotel. The breakfast was delicious and the hotel all in all is excellent. I would happily book here again. We met the owner at breakfast and he was very friendly and helpful. The night before we were going to arrive very late so called ahead and there was no problem, all was explained how to gain access. We stayed here as a family of 5 and it was excellent all round.

Murray and his crew are very friendly and helpful. The Boyle is right by the forest to access mountain biking. It was awesome! We hope to come back some day because everyone at the Riders Retreat were so great.

Very friendly hotel. Thro Expedia I had ordered a double/twin room and on the request notes I had specified twin beds. Got to the hotel and only a double, but straight away the staff had a comfortable single bed took into our room Staff very helpful throughout our stay.

Stay at Glentress
The hotel is in a great position for the trails at Glentress. The service was excellent on arrival and later when my daughter could not work the television and the hotel proprietor came to the room to fix the problem. The mens' toilets downstairs were in need of a facelift and the same could be said for our bathroom. The bath panel was marked and tired. The bedroom linen was clean and smelled fresh and the decor was okay. Reading lights or bedside lamps are needed, rather than just one overhead light. More plug sockets also needed in the bedroom (there was one, tucked behind a bed). Single use cups for tea in the bedroom. There should be no single-use items at all! Dinner was delicious.

Excellent proximity to Glentress with everything you need for either a walking or mountain biking getaway. We hired an e-bike for the Glentress mountain bike trails and dined there both nights we stayed as the atmosphere, food and drink were really good.

Great stay for mountain bikers and active types
Good spot for riding the bike directly to the forest. The food in the restaurant was good with some good options for us being gluten free. The room itself was good. The only thing that would have made it better would be a fridge or access to a fridge.

Great staff and perfect location for biking
Great staff and perfect location. Bed was comfy and room was clean. Looks like it has had a bit of recent refresh. Shower could do with a pressure booster but it was hot and washed the mud off. Evening burgers were good. Breakfast (full Scottish) was tasty and locally sourced.
