We love Taupo and Manuel's and have stayed a great many times over the years. Unfortunately the rooms are a little tired and could do with a wee revamp. The sofa in our room was awful. However - it won't stop us from returning as the location on the lake is perfect.

Beautiful views of Lake Taupo
The hotel is in a really beautiful location and our room / balcony had amazing views over Lake Taupo.The room was clean and had all the amenities. The hotel is pretty old and the carpets in the corridors, the pool and the sauna could do with a refresh. Checking in and out was without a hassle and everybody working there had a smile on their face.

I don’t usually comment but I have to say the staff at this property were exceptional-the nicest, happiest most attentive and welcoming group of people I have encountered at a property of this size-nothing was a problem! Beautiful lakeside surroundings, excellent check in staff. Room excellent but bathroom very outdated and not quite in keeping with standard of main room. Our room was not serviced until 3.00pm and then we had to ask person who appeared to be in charge of housekeeping to have it properly serviced. She agreed it was not properly done.
