Very pretty setting and nice lodge restaurant and viewing area for Mt. Denali. Was not told there wasn't an elevator for our room and my husband is not able to carry luggage. It was very difficult to get the bags up the stairs.

Disappointed
The compound is lovely spread across the hillside. We had dinner and breakfast on location and the service was poor at best. This property is clearly a cruise ship stopover. We were a private booking. Waiting on a bus for transportation is a hassle, we learned to rent a vehicle in AK next trip. The views help make things better but service needs to improve in the large restaurant.

Setup for your buses not individuals
Room was a typical hotel room clean. The issue was the setup of the whole place it was scattered everywhere and parking was atrocious. Minimal parking half in the mud if you could find a spot. Then you had to walk a long ways to get to your building and room. Seemed to be setup for tour buses not individuals. Not recommended

Very nice resort with many things to do - hiking trails, a couple onsite restaurant choices - nightly fire pit with s’mores and cocktails. This resort is huge! And we wish we had booked more than one night here. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat! The bed is sooo comfy, best night sleep of our trip

Property was a little outdated but still nice. This Mississippi girl needs her AC year round and there isn’t any. Luckily we could open a window for cool air. Stayed one night to break up our trip from Fairbanks to Anchorage. Don’t get this lodge confused with the one near Denali like I did.

This place is a huge resort and for us walking to a room uphill was not the best. If you are looking for a resort with resort amenities, and the prices to match, you will love this place. We thought that with the word, Denali in the description, we would be right next to the park and this is not accurate at all. My room price per night was 159 so I thought that was a good bargain. Front desk staff were very friendly.

In the Denali! View was spectacular! Exactly what you would expect. Did not realize we were so far from park entrance, but overall the grounds are amazing. Food was very underwhelming but we just needed a place to sleep and this was just fine.

I wish I could comment more on the grounds of the resort which looked amazing, or all of the near trails or activities available, which certainly deserves another full post. What I’d like to share is how incredible the McKinley Princess staff are. Shortly after I arrived at the Mt McKinley Wilderness resort, my infant spiked a high fever. The front desk immediately sent over staff with medical training who then drove us two hours to the hospital in Wasilla, and waited until we were done, and then drove us back. We were asked to stay in our room to prevent passing on my child’s illness to other guests, and the staff brought meals, put together care packages, and called regularly to check on us. The next night, my child required an ambulance ride back to the hospital. The McKinley staff were AMAZING. I had three folks come to wait with me while the ambulance arrived, who made sure I had essentials packed in a bag and also had water and granola bars for what would end up being a long hospital stay. They checked on me and even had someone drive over two hours to wait for me in case we were discharged after being seen. I can’t tell you all of the sweet, thoughtful things these folks did, there is not enough space but they truly went above and beyond in one of the scariest times of my life. Thank you Rich, Carissa, Colleen, Jessica, Brian, and so many others for being wonderful humans. I am so grateful for you.
