For the budget-conscious, you absolutely will strike gold with this gem of a hotel.
The service was fantastic, from the receptionist who greeted me to the manager who helped me exchange money (at a rate very close to the actual exchange rate and no extra charges), and the person who laid out breakfast for me. My suitcase was carried to my room and out of the building when I left, which I was grateful for as it was rather heavy! I was also given plenty of good advice for where to go to eat out as well.
The room was simple but perfectly acceptable for a short stay - clean towels, a very comfortable bed, working air conditioning and a fridge. The water needed to run for a few minutes so it was clear to wash my hands, but no concerns as I wasn't going to drink it! Didn't try the shower.
Breakfast was simple but sufficient - yoghurt, bread rolls, jam, cream cheese, boiled egg, orange juice and water. I was encouraged to take extra water whenever I wanted as well.
The only comment I would leave for future guests to be mindful of is that there is no lift, so if you have any accessibility needs it probably wouldn't suit you.
I cannot thank everyone enough for the service, attentiveness and care I received during my stay. It is not The Ritz(!) but I would recommend the Canary Hotel and would stay again without hesitation!
