Upon arrival, I was informed that the hotel was overbooked and was asked to walk to a nearby “equally good” hotel—whatever that meant. I walked over, only to find there was no booking under my name. After several phone calls, the issue was finally sorted, but I was then placed in a very basic room, which I wouldn’t even rate as 3 stars.

Awful experience with hotel check in

Appalling double charge experience on check in and no manager working weekend to resolve. On check in my phone was on the counter as I went to pay with the debit card I reserved with the receptionist, who wasn't paying attention, pushed the terminal towards the phone and I was charged through my phone. After many attempts to refund she said she couldn't cancel and there was no manager until after checkout. She assured me it would be cancelled as I had also paid on the card I reserved with. No refund received so I have paid twice and have to go through the hassle of challenging the transaction. I paid in front up in full and the receptionist was also trying to get me.to pay and extra 50 euro deposit for no reason. The breakfast which I paid for was very basic and not worth the money. Bakery and cafes around the corner offer better value. Room was clean but bed mattress was knackered and there's no toilet door. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

MOXY Berlin's air conditioner was broken during our stay when the temperature was over 80 degrees F / 27 degrees C in Berlin at night. The hotel is not equipped to handle the heat through other means. What was more concerning was that they did not alert us of this ahead of our stay or at check in — we had to find this out ourselves at night in the room. When we called asking for help with the air conditioner, the front desk did inform us of the broken AC and said that they would send a fan, which they never did. The front desk also was unable to accommodate a slightly early check in despite being seemingly empty. There were also no bolt locks on the door, which did not help with feeling safe. As a Hotels.com Gold member, Hotels.com was unable to assist us beyond calling the hotel in the middle of the night. A very bad service experience.
