Traveling with the kids. 1st time in Detroit. I thought Wingate would be good because of its reputation on the East Coast. The hotel is very close to the Airport. Walking distance to fast food and gas stations. The room was pretty dated. The carpets looked as though they needed cleaning. One of the reasons I booked there was for breakfast. My RSVP said breakfast was included. They gave the excuse that "Since Covid, we never brought back breakfast." That's just bull and laziness. Hardly anyone in Detroit was wearing mask. They are not worried about Covid. Then they had the nerve to have a bar in the hotel. So, you can't do breakfast but you have a bar with drinks and ish? The staff was nice though. Felt more like a Motel than a Hotel.

Reinstate breakfast. All properties we stay at except this one have resumed breakfast. Using COVID as an excuse is not valid. Cost cutting is obviously why the property is not offering breakfast. It's listed on the website as an amenity and should be provided.

This hotel is terrible. Couldn't use the bathroom fan, the AC clunked hard enough to wake you every time it turned on and off. Once I finally turned that off you could hear every door slamming and noise from outside. The carpet was pulling up and mouldy. This hotel is SO BAD I forfeited my last two nights of staying here and got another hotel. When I brought the issues to the front desk her only reply was "well there's no refunds". Stay away!

Lines were always long. Only one person working the desk. Dirty carpet in the room and hall. Grouting around tub need to be redone. Toilet want properly bolted in clanked and rocked when you sit on it. Remote didn’t work. There were scuff marks on the wall. I made a reservation for multiple adults. I had to request an extra key. Also there was only one set of towels in the double queen room. When requesting towels there was a shortage. There aren’t irons in the room. The one sent to us didn’t work properly we requested another iron but it never arrived.

Fitness center is mostly broken equipment. This says breakfast for 2 guests and there is no breakfast. Located at end of take-off air strip, so it’s loud. Door lock is broken. Check in took 15 minutes. No good food options around. The on-site restaurant is not good. Overall would not stay here again. 2/5 stars max. Wingate’s are normally nice in my experience but not this one.

I recommend this establishment invest in cleaning and repairs.The bathroom and rugs are on the borderline of being nasty. If my wife had been traveling with me, I dont think she would have stayed.

Check in personnel unfriendly, did not offer any information for the hotel stay. Only one set of towels in the room, which can sleep 4 people. one serving of coffee. Did not inform me the process of having to come to the reception area for towels, coffee or other items. No apologies for the inconvenience. Did not have breakfast included in the price of the room. The restaurant on the property was closed without posted times of operation. Gym had equipment that were not working. Towels and trash needed to be placed on the floor outside of the room. Would like to acknowledge another employee: JESSE. Excellent customer service skills. Was very friendly, professional, knowledgeable and helpful. She went out of her way and she made the rest of our stay pleasant. She was working at the desk the last 2 days of our stay.
