Great modern hotel
Hotel Balmi is a lovely, modern, boutique hotel. My room was great, with a nice river view. The location was perfect for me, with so much interesting street life nearby and within walking distance of some of the tourist spots. It’s also easy and cheap to get a Grab taxi if you’re feeling a little tired and lazy! The service at the hotel was fantastic. All the staff were friendly and helpful. I’d definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel, especially the friendly and very helpful staff. The room was big and everything in the room looked very new and beautiful. That's why we rebooked at the same hotel for the day we're flying out of Myanmar.

Easy to get around from this hotel. Staff lovely and helpful. Great roomy bathroom and good shower. Bed comfy but no view from window so felt a bit claustrophobic.

A relatively new hotel that is excellent for its 3* rating. Friendly and pleasant staff, although some had limited English. Very good Myanmar breakfast (I didn’t try the Western options) and great view from the rooftop restaurant. I loved the location in Chinatown (close to 19th Street BBQ street food - highly recommended), but this is some distance from where most of the hotels are located. Derfinitely recommended.

Room was very nice for the price. It’s not 5 star but I had no expectations for it to be. However it was very comfortable, the staff was super friendly and it was in a good location. I would definitely stay there again.

Hotel is nice and in a good location. Staff wants to help and it will be nice if they spoke better English and/or will tell you when they don't understand something.

The staff are thoroughly professional and extremely friendly. All of them were always very welcoming and made our time at the Hotel Balmi a wonderful experience. We'll definitely stay here the next time we're in Myanmar and we highly recommend this hotel as it's also a great location close to the action in downtown Yangon. The rooftop restaurant has great views of the river and the Shwedagon Pagoda in the distance.

Excellent Services and Great Location
Great location- walking distance to wide selection of local restaurants, bars, market, whole sale centre and shopping mall. Our walk to Junction City and Bogyoke Aung San Mkt was very pleasant as there are a lot of interesting stalls/architectures/hawkers to keep your eyes occupied on the way. If you love hot peppers, you'd love the fresh local pepper(500k-750k SHU) available in the morning street market.
Services were outstanding, the team went extra mile to make your stay wonderful- every staff we met including security (first impression counts), the cook/chef(met in the lift) were helpful and friendly. Check-in was a breeze. We are very impressed with the hotel team for a surprised birthday cake presented with a guitarist and staff singing my wife a birthday song when we did not mentioned anything about her birthday at all. We have stayed at multiple 5-star hotels where one might receive a card and champagne/cake/chocolate on special occasions in your room but never with this kind of human touches. The hotel has definitely set a new service standard!
Breakfast is decent for a boutique hotel here, we had make to order eggs & other typical local dishes from the buffet table. Views on the top deck(restaurant lvl) were fascinating day or night- busy boats ferrying goods/locals across the river in the morning & views of night market.
The beds were comfortable & clean, wall sockets in room take all int'l plugs & has usb ports. Wifi was decent & no street noises heard in room.

4/10 Fair

Fairly comfortable give the lower price for Yangon
--staff had trouble finding my reservation (already paid for), so checkin was delayed
--the difference between the two types of rooms is whether or not there is a window; I got the room with the window, but the photos on the booking website misleadingly made me think that it was a two room suite with bathroom -- this is not true: there is one small room, but the chair and desk area are comfortable, as is the bathroom
--wifi was remarkably fast, I think the fastest and most reliable I've ever had at a hotel in Burma
--housekeeping set the record for the earliest time to make up my room (8:46am), which was annoying because I had just gone out for breakfast, and had to wait for housekeeping to finish when I returned. (Do I need to use the "do not disturb" sign at 8am?)
