Not good enough on a wild winter's night
We changed are plans at the last minute due to the bad weather and wanting to be closer to the airport.
Duus hotel promised a restaurant but once we arrived found out it was closed over Christmas.
It was self checkin, and when we arrived we seemed to be the only people there, which felt a little unsafe on a stormy night on the coast.
As the storm progressed, we had snow coming through the skylight in our room. We called to mention this. When the owner came and looked at it, seemed like he didn't believe us as the snow had stopped (even though the floor was wet). Very surprised that we were not offered a different room at this point, there were plenty available.

Broken window
I was really excited to stay at Hotel Duus. The pictures looks so beautiful and the room had an incredible view. I arrived very late to the hotel. I didn’t realize that the check in was all digital til a very nice lady staying there came out to help me.
The wind was awful and it was hailing so badly. When I got into my room, the door kept banging against the wall. I realized this was because the window in the room was broken. The latch wasn’t attached to the wall. This left my room freezing! There was no way to properly shut my window so there was about 4 fingers of space during this hail storm where cold wind and some water got into my room. Very disappointing- someone should’ve check this before I arrived.
Everything else was good.
Clean and comfortable.

Convenient and quaint hotel near KEF
A very convenient hotel stay after a delayed airline arrival in KEF. Very comfortable room, smaller bathroom and sink but totally functional, only issue was the very slow drain in the shower. Very quaint location with a great view of the working harbor from the restaurant (which has a pleasant breakfast and wonderful bread!!). Helpful staff as well,

This was our first stay at hotel Duus although we have eaten at Kafi Duus several times on previous stays in Iceland and the food has always been excellent. We were disappointed with the room (203). This was just off the lobby and was incredibly noisy - you could hear every conversation at reception as well as people passing through. We chose a room with a balcony but don't expect to get an opportunity to see any northern lights from your room - a car park just outside has floodlights that destroy the night sky. Good blackout curtains however do stop this entering the room.
Bed was comfortable, room a decent size and it is convenient for the airport.

I was surprised to find out that the property is poorly maintained. The floor was so dirty, it was sticky. The sink was badly clogged and bathroom and shower have seen better days.
The whole vibe was a little creepy seeing the overly cluttered “lobby” with an addition of a flickering light in the whole way, adding to the vibe. The hotel doesn’t even have a sign ‘hotel’ so we looked around for a bit.
The bigger problem- the doors have passcodes, and after seeing your room’s passcode, you can figure out the passcode of every room there!!!!! This is insane.
So, no. I don’t recommend staying there.

Spacious room considering the area. No staff at check in. Have to call a number for one of the restaurant employees to come check you in. No sign out front of the hotel. Only signs for the restaurant. Shower and sink did not drain. Many of the lights in the room did not work. Not a very well kept hotel.
