Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum is a museum dedicated to flight and space that's housed in an actual hangar on the old Lowry Air Force Base. The museum boasts more than 50 aircraft in addition to other artifacts, flight simulators, special programs, and more.
In addition to the many fantastic permanent exhibits, the museum offers limited-time exhibits and special events. No matter when you come back, you’re bound to find something new. Plan to spend at least an hour or 2 here, and more if you want to explore in-depth or take in a presentation.

A brief history of Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum in Denver
The Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum was founded in 1994 in Hangar #1 of the old Lowry Air Force Base. The base was one of Colorado’s biggest employers in its time, It was predominately a technical training center and graduated over a million officers and enlisted members from its programs.
Lowry Air Force Base was active from World War II all the way up through the Cold War until the early 1990s. Since the air force base has been decommissioned in the Lowry area, now it is home to many locals, delicious food and drink, and, of course, the amazing museum.
