China Walls is a park that shows off impressive geological features and picturesque views of the natural Hawaiian landscape and the Pacific Ocean. Much of the ground here shows visible signs of lava flows from long ago, reminding visitors of Oahu's volcanic nature. Although this is a coastal park, it notably doesn't have a single grain of sand.
This park offers stunning views and experiences for the whole family, though nature lovers will be especially satisfied. Most people spend about an hour or 2 here exploring the cliffs, shores, and breathtaking natural landscapes.

China Walls highlights
When you visit China Walls, be sure to check out the remnants of lava flows. While much of it is exactly what you would expect, you'll find certain parts that appear to be a greenish color. This is due to the lava flowing and hardening among semi-precious olivine stones.
China Walls faces west, making it one of the best places on the island to catch a sunset. As the sun sets over the horizon, the orange beam from its light shoots across the water and well onto the surface of the volcanic stone that makes up the shore.
Good to know when visiting China Walls
To get the most out of your trip to China Walls, you'll need to take some precautions. Cliffsides can make for incredible vantage points, but you need to keep an eye on the changing tides and waves. Waves can often reach over the cliff face and sneak up on you if you're not ready.
Be careful where you walk in this park. Most of the land is easily traversable, of course, but wet rocks can be quite slippery—sometimes more slippery than ice. Typically, these are the rocks covered in brown algae. If you see them, go around.
