Jingliao Old Street, formerly known as "Dowry Street", is located in Houbi District, Tainan City. It's recently become a famous attraction because the documentary "Let It Be" was filmed here. Most of the old buildings are well-preserved, so you can easily imagine life here years ago when it was a bustling commercial street.
While you're here, be sure to check out the pyramid standing in the green rice paddies. Saint Cross Church, a tall and striking cone-shaped building, was built by German Pritzker Architecture Prize winner Gottfried Bohm. This building is an extraordinary architectural masterpiece that has great historical significance. Designed to reflect the local spirit, the pointed cones of the church are inspired by the straw piles in the fields after the autumn harvest. In the church, there's a French priest who's very fluent in Taiwanese. He writes spring couplets for visitors during Chinese vacations, so when you're here, don't forget to pay him a visit.

Beimen Crystal Church sits between Zhoubei and Zhongzhou Salt Fields, next to Beimen Visitor Center. The design of the church was inspired by Guam’s famous St. Laguna Wedding Chapel. The pointed arches standing on the water resemble the salt piles dotted around the surrounding landscape, while the pristine white steel frames echo the purity of a white bridal gown. This sleek and elegant architecture is not unlike that of the Sydney Opera House.
