Rambergøya is a small uninhabited island in the inner Oslo Fjord, connected to Gressholmen and Heggholmen, and with a municipal bathing area and outdoor area. Via Gressholmen there is a good bus connection from Rådhusplassen in the port of Oslo.

The island is part of a nature reserve and is one of the most pristine in the area, with several rare plants and important nesting and grazing neighborhoods for seabirds. Restricted automobile and boat traffic helps to make this a suitable place for those looking for peace and quiet in untouched nature.

Sjøbadet is located right by the Trondheimsfjord and is a lovely place to take a break from everyday life, whatever the season.

The central bathing area benefits from steps, a raft and a diving tower, alongside simple and modern facilities, and in summer, the city's residents often come here to swim in the fjord, sunbathe and relax. In winter, the onsite sauna is heated at fixed times. Use of the sauna is primarily intended for local members, but there is also a so-called "public sauna" open to anyone who wants to use the sauna and enoy a refreshing winter dip afterward. The facility's central location makes it easy to walk or cycle here from anywhere in the city centre.

Grønevika is a popular bathing area adjacent to the Arboretum at Milde. It is well-organised with various facilities and an exceptionally beautiful local area. The location inside the arboretum means a bit of a walk from the carpark, but in return, the carpark is big, and the walk to the beach is beautiful through extremely peaceful surroundings.

The beach benefits from facilities such as toilets, tables and benches, a barbecue area and a place to dispose of any disposable BBQs and other waste. People with reduced mobility will appreciate the ramp with railings leading down to the water. On a small headland at the entrance to the bay there is a diving board and boulders that also make a great place to settle for an afternoon. The small grassy hill by the beach fills up quickly, but inwards in the Arboretum there is plenty of space.

Bymarka is located a little west of Trondheim and is both the closest and most popular hiking area for the city's inhabitants, both in summer and winter. The large outdoor area offers varied landscapes, hiking trails and ski trails, and is definitely worth experiencing in its winter glory. Even if there is little snow elsewhere in Trondheim, you are more or less guaranteed that this area is covered by a white blanket.

The ski slopes crisscross Bymarka and there are lots of groomed slopes, which makes it popular with skiers. Most trails are easily accessible, and whether you are going on a hike or a ski trip with the whole family, you'll find a run that suits you.

In Trondheim you can pull on your hiking boots and follow the 8-km long Ladestien from Ladehammeren and all the way to Rotvollfjæra. This trail is highly suitable for wheelchair users or families with pushchairs, as you can adapt and plan the trip according to the terrain and length.

Enjoy the views of the sea, take a dip in one of the bathing spots, learn about World War II and visit Lade Church. If you get hungry or thirsty, just make a stop at Ladekaia or Sponhuset. This hiking trail has more to offer than just fresh air.

If the conditions are right for the northern lights in Trondheim, then Kristiansten Fortress is the place to go. Surrounded by history and solid walls, sit back and enjoy the amazing light display on the dark and star-filled sky.

Getting to the fortress is easy, and there is plenty of space in the large green area if you are a group or you have a comfy chair with you. Perhaps King Christian, who initiated the construction of the old structure, admired the northern lights from here himself.

West of Trondheim is Bymarka, an outdoor area with a varied landscape, hiking trails and ski trails. Bymarka also comprises a nature reserve, and there are as many as 12 peaks you can climb, of which Storheia is the highest, reaching 566 meters above sea level.

Should you get too hot on a trip, cool off in one of the bathing lakes, such Haukvatnet, which also features a wheelchair trail. Bymarka also benefits from ski resorts, a golf course and several restaurants. This makes Bymarka a place that everyone will enjoy visiting - whether you are passionate about outdoor life or you just want a day out on a Sunday.

The western headland, which lies between Vågsbunnen and Nøstet, is full of sights, but it is only the outer part that really bears the name Nordnes. At the far end of the headland are some of Bergen's biggest tourist attractions, such as the Aquarium, Nordnesparken and the Nordnes bathing area.

It's only a short walk from the city centre, and walking is recommended to get a full impression of the whole district. You'll also find a few secluded gems such as Fredriksberg Fortress (only open during the summer) and lively concerts at USF Verftet.

Fiskesleppet is a relatively new climbing area developed by Telavåg in 2011, and which is constantly being expanded with new routes. The approach is very good, with parking in Telavåg close by.

You can pitch a tent here for a couple of days for climbing in the scenic surroundings. The area offers 30+ routes with a rating around 4/5, and with some at the absolute lowest and most child-friendly level. Plenty of grass and small rocks under the wall also provide comfortable conditions for securing yourself. Harder routes have been established on the edge of the area, with a handful of 8s. All in all a varied offer of climbing routes.
