The best towns and resorts in St Kitts and Nevis range from the bustling capital of Basseterre to a collection of sleepy mountain villages. Some of the more remote villages feature nothing more than a few houses lining a beautiful beach, surrounded by lush jungle.

Considering only 40,000 people live on the 2 islands, it’s clear that you’ll be far from any kind of hustle and bustle. St Kitts and Nevis are quiet even when compared to other Caribbean islands. But that’s not to say sleepy – there’s more to these 2 small islands than just powdery beaches and swaying palms. You can enjoy a variety of exciting activities here – golfing, scuba diving, windsurfing and hiking are just a few to start off with.

    Dieppe Bay Town, St Kitts

Enjoy local life in this sleepy backwater

    • History

Dieppe Bay Town is a historical town of note as it was the first settlement on the island. It was destroyed shortly after and was rebuilt by the French in 1625 – hence the name. These days, this sleepy town on the northern Atlantic coast of St Kitts is a place to get away from it all.

With a population of just a few hundred people, it’s certainly not a place for wild partying. You can choose from a modest selection of guesthouses, served by a couple of restaurants along the coast. But this is its charm. Escape the busy resorts on the southern coast and live like the locals in Dieppe Bay Town.
