Woljeongsa Temple & Fir Tree Forest is a stunning location where you and your partner are free to explore a historic temple, towering trees and serene grounds. The temple itself dates back to the Monk Ja Jang era of the Silla Kingdom, which lasted from the late 6th century to the mid-7th century.
As you approach the temple, you and your partner will have to traverse a half-mile-long path through towering fir trees. Some of the trees are more than half a millennium old. It's all located on the northeast side of the county just north of Ganpyeong-Ri.

Yongpyong Ski Resort

Yongpyong Ski Resort is a massive ski and snowboarding resort with thrilling slopes in the winter and golf in the summer. The ski season lasts from November to April and features 31 total slopes of various difficulty levels.
Outside of the winter, this resort still has much to offer, including an entire golf course. Of course, the mountainous area makes for stunning sights no matter what time of year you visit, and warmer months open up the opportunity for hikes. The Daegwallyeong Samyang Ranch Observatory is a viewpoint set on a plateau that's 1,470 meters high, offering sights stretching across the ranch. The ranch is predominantly an expansive meadow, home to milking cows roaming around eating grass.

Odaesan National Park

Odaesan National Park is a lovely IUCN category II national park that's home to thousands of species and has plenty of opportunities for outdoor adventure. More active couples will especially enjoy the array of walking paths through the woods, open neighborhoods and mountainous aspects of the park.

Jeonggangwon is a food culture experience center that allows you and your partner to get a taste of traditional Korean cuisine and learn how it's made. You can taste a variety of different dishes at the exhibition hall, and you can explore the food museum to learn the local history.

Sogeumgang Valley

Sogeumgang Valley is a stunning natural area defined by oddly shaped rocks on both sides, walking paths, and scenic views that you can enjoy. A walk through this valley on one of the paths can be particularly romantic, as the odd shapes of the rocks around the valley can make the experience feel almost otherworldly.
The name of this valley comes from the appearance of the rocks, which are said to be reminiscent of Geumgangsan Mountain. Sogeumgang essentially means a smaller version of Geumgangsan. It's located on the northeast side of the county, a few miles west of Gangneung.

Lee Hyo-seok Culture Village

Lee Hyo-seok Culture Village is where the titular author, also known as Gasan, was born and raised, and which features numerous activities and festivals related to his writing. The village gained prominence from the novel ‘When the Buckwheat Blossoms’, which featured the village as its setting.
When you and your partner visit this village, you'll find plenty to do, including Gasan Park and the Lee Hyo-seok Memorial Hall. The town additionally hosts a museum dedicated to the famous novel. It's located on the northwest side of the county just east of Bongpyeong-Myeon.
