A great find in Amsterdam
A brilliant property in an amazing location. Staff were friendly and the rooms were huge. Would recommend

Acceptable value with quirks
Chose this hotel as a 2 room suite while traveling with my wife & mom. It was completely acceptable if a little quirky. odd room layout and stairs in odd places (getting to the bathroom in the middle of the night was ok, but down a long haul and up stairs). Staff was skeleton, but we knew this going in. Not unhappy with value for the money. Just be aware of the quirks going in.

The space was not very clean - the carpet was very stained and damage was visible throughout the apartment. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms were clean and well equipped. We also had to sit and wait for instructions to be emailed to us even beyond the check in time, even though the property was clean and ready for us to use. There is no luggage storage onsite, and the recommended option for storage is all the way across town, which is really inconvenient.

Misleading number of rooms / beds
My biggest issue with the stay is that we reserved a 2 bedroom suite with 1 king bed in the first room and 2 single beds in the second room. The room we got had 1 kind bed, 1 single bed and a sofa sleeper in the common room. This basically forced us into not having a functional common room. The hotels.com website CLEARLY lists this property has having 2 bedrooms / 1 king and 2 single beds in each room. This is the primary reason we booked at De Jonker and were very disappointed to not have the option we paid for. The onsite person said this configuration does not exist. The other issue we had is the lack of ability to store our luggage while we waited for check in. It cost us an additonal 25 euro to taxi from the 'sister property' where we were able to store our bags. It was time consuming, costly and very inconvenient. Thankfully, I checked with the properly first to see what the check in process would be, otherwise it would have been twice as expensive and time consuming.

Great value in good location
Really good value for a two bedroom suite in an excellent location by Artis Zoo. Rooms were cosy and comfortable with a small kitchenette and sitting area. Would stay again!

A good location, close to the central train station, but also various tourist attractions. The unit we had could have used a re-carpeting, the floor was not the cleanest. Also, the bathroom sink was stuffed and, despite my best efforts to explain they need to use a plunger, the sink continued to be stuffed the whole time we were there. Otherwise the hosts were friendly and tried to provide things like towels and take the trash out. With some little improvements here and there, this can be a really good place to stay while in Amsterdam.

Great trip with a good set up for four people but the cleanliness is the main thing that lets it down. Lots of cobwebs that are easily reachable, dead flies on the windowsill and greasy marks on the wall, stained toilet and shower smelt like wet dog. It’s in a great location with lots of wonderful restaurants close by, tram stop very close but in a quiet area. Staff are super helpful.

This property was located in a very nice neighbourhood with the Artis tram stop less than a block away. The Zoo was just across the street from the hotel. It was an easy walk to a grocery store and the inner city. The Museum District was a longer walk away. The suite was worn out. The carpets looked awful (dirty, cigarette burns) so we were fortunate to have our slippers with us. The dark painted walls were chipped throughout the suite contributing to the worn look. The bathroom was upgraded, the bed reasonably comfortable and the sheets were clean. The kitchen was small and minimally equipped but did the job. The staff were excellent. They were always friendly and were responsive to our requests.

Last resort destination - bring ear plugs!
Honestly ive stayed in hostels that were miles better than this. Location is about a 30 minute walk to the center, SO noisy it felt like people were getting into bed with me, self check in that relies on you having battery which after travelling is not ideal, no one at desk and when they are, they are not trained and have to call others. The clientele did not feel safe for me. For a female solo traveller, I would say an absolute no go. I would suggest that the self check in is made more apparent in the hotel description because that was a nightmare to manage. This would be a very last resort for me to stay again and I wouldnt do it alone and I would bring EAR PLUGS!!!!

Stay anywhere else but here
Worst hotel I have ever stayed in, and the staff is not friendly at all. I got to my dungeon of a room, there was poop on the toilet seat, the shower drain was backed up so much that debris was spewing out, the floors were dirty, and when I told the staff they just ignored it. It’s loud, difficult to enter, and the cleaning service woke me at 8 even though they said they weren’t cleaning until after 10. I highly do not recommend this place.

High tech high maintenance checkin.
Very sophisticated high tech hotel. Constant emails during my trip and just keeping up was a hassle. QR code to get in wasted a lot of time answering emails taking away. From my pleasure trip. Room was very nice although a bit dark in the hallway of the room. If your not into technology and having international cell phone service, this is not the place for you.

Vacation
The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The location was good. However, the property management didn’t follow thru. The shower was missing the glass door, the safe didn’t work, the deadbolt lock was missing, and need more towel hooks in the bathroom. The entire place was very dark.

4/10 Fair

The entire hotel is painted in dark colors, which create a gloomy feeling. The paint in the rooms, moreover, has gaps in some areas, giving it a shabby feeling. Terrible door lock system. Indifferent and indolent staff who show rudeness to women. The hotel is not centrally located, which is not in and of itself a problem. It is a block from the Artis tram stop and so easy to get to the center. Quite near the Amstel, with lovely views nearby.
