The staff was wonderful to work with. They helped us with our luggage transfer and made us feel like we were a true guest in their home. I can't recommend this enough and the area around Lake Yamanaka is fantastic. I sure hope to return someday.

I loved the bath. It was so hot and steamy. The traditional Japanese rooms were exactly what I was looking for for my stay in Japan. As we were leaving, the sweet host gave us hot tea to warm our hands on our cold walk to the bud station. When I got to the bus the station, I realized I left my hat. All of a sudden I see her drive up to the station and give it to me. Excellent Japanese hospitality

I booked this place entirely by accident, but I’m so glad I did! Yamanakako is a gorgeous place! Everyone there I met was super nice. The Ryokan itself was amazing in its own right too. Very nice sized room, great amenities. The bath was exquisite. Truly a jem.

Fuji fabulous
The Ryokan was an excellent introduction to traditional Japanese hospitality, although it wasn’t obvious to find! Beautiful and interesting location. Lovely, helpful staff and incredible breakfast and general welcome. A great experience. We loved the atmosphere and the Yukata robes. The lake is lovely and there are lots of restaurants and thing a to do nearby.

It is a bit far from the bus stop but the area is beautiful and peaceful. Nice to walk around. The owner, a kind older woman, is very sweet and communicative despite us not speaking a lot of Japanese. The indoor onsen was small but because there were not a lot of visitors we were able to take advantage of it as if it was a private onsen.

PROS: The property is clean and neat. The staff was also super sweet and helpful, they did not speak a word of English but managed to guide me through everything, very patient. I stayed at the old school japanese style room with tatami floor, very comfortable and unique. There is a vending machine right by the entrance so thats also good if you get thirsty in the middle of the night. I liked the bathouse even though it was public for all the guests. Cons: The property is far off the main roads and combini (this could be a pro if you like peace and quiet), so if you want to grab a quick bite at the nearest 7 eleven, good luck taking a 20 minute walk back and forth. Not having AC (at the old style room) could be a problem during the summer, I went in spring and it gets chilly at night, I dont know about the summer. Some people might not enjoy the public guest bathroom, but I did not mind bathing alongside other people, this is Japan for godsake, the onsen country LOL. Thats pretty much it, I definetly recommend this property but be mindful of the distance between stations. Overall, 10/10
