This was my 4th or 5th trip to San Juan del Sur and the first time staying at La Posada Azul. This place appears to be an old colonial style hotel, dark wood floors, verandas and rattan furniture and tropical landscaping. The setting is beautiful, the pictures can hardly do the place justice. Breakfast was amazing, my favorite was the breakfast burrito and the kitchen were all very accommodating. The front desk staff were all very pleasant and also accommodating whether I needed a hair dryer, a bucket of ice or directions to local attractions. The room was spacious and quaintly appointed with rattan furniture including a large wardrobe. There is no television in the rooms, which I found to be a positive. And the shower was hot! (a luxury in Nicaragua). They have 3 or 4 seating areas where one can read or just sip a coke or Tona from the "bar". You could help yourself and just had to note on the sheet at the bar what you had taken. And they have a small boutique with items from local artists and businesses such as pottery, woven baskets, beautiful scarves and coffee. I will definitely be staying here again.
