The check-in line was extremely long, so we left for 30 minutes to get something to eat at Wendy's around the corner. We came back, but the line was still long. After another 30 minutes, we got checked in and could not find our building to save our lives. Eventually, we found it, and it was up three long flights of stairs and NO ELEVATOR ! We knew that would be a significant problem as we are older and in good health, but older, and the weather is quite hot, trying to lug multiple suitcases. Just coming and going up and down these large staircases would wear anyone down quickly. We returned to the front desk, and I advised that I had booked this trip in January as part of our 25th anniversary and was returning to Aruba for the 10th time. We requested a room near the pool or with golf course views and got neither. Why ? They looked through their system and said they didn't have anything and to wait to see if they could locate something on the ground floor and get us in.
Meanwhile, the lobby does not have AC, and our luggage is melting in the rental car. After sitting there sweating and waiting for another 25 minutes, they offered no drinks and continued to help others waiting in line. I finally had enough and asked for a manager. Then they said they had a room. The room had mold in various locations but was a nice unit near the pool. Decent food. Quite a few asinine and aggressive golfers, but it was an enjoyable time. The pool gave my wife a UTI..so one and done here !
