Wonderful friendly staff, beautiful interiors, very comfortable room, beautifully decorated. The bed was very comfortable. Ideal romantic getaway. We had a garden view. The spa facilities were good. We didn’t eat at the restaurant, however the food looked and smelled fantastic.

8/10 Very Good

This hotel has the potential to be brilliant. The pool is a good size and there are loungers to lie on both inside and out. There are two jacuzzis (one in one out) steam room and sauna. So far so good. What it lacks is joined up service. The staff are not rude exactly but overkeen to explain their rules and stick rigidly to them. For example: we only give one key (my friend has already arrived separately and is in the pool). OK, so how do you expect me to take my things to my room. Long pause. Long long pause. Perhaps you could show me to my room and I could drop off my things? Oh yes, yes I could. Long wait. Long long wait. There are no lifts, I have three bags, we’re on the second floor. Oh! Well done, he managed it, he did offer to take my bag. But no info on the spa, no info on meal times, no info on the wifi, no info on robes or towels or anything volunteered. It just felt a bit…lacking. Lots of cobwebs in the stairwell, shower either freezing or boiling. For £149 a pretty tiny room overlooking a car park and bins, no breakfast. I asked if they might have a safety pin. No. Was the answer. We wanted drinks in the jacuzzi…go order them yourself from the bar…this is all fine but it lacked finesse. It did not make me feel swanky when the surroundings are really quite lovely. We got down to check out at 10.50. Is there any brunch available. No. We were double charged for our Prosecco in the jacuzzi - luckily we had the receipt as he showed no sign of backing down.

The hotel is absolutely beautifully furnished and the gardens are stunning. The spa looked lovely, unfortunately I wasn't able to try it out. The room I stayed in was ok. Not that clean and the sheets had staining. The fire alarm light was flashing all night and was just over the bed and kept me awake a while. The staff were very helpful and friendly. It was a fair one night stopover. If I lived close, ideally I'd just go for the spa and walk around the beautiful gardens.

Hotel approach is very nice lovely gardens and outside space. Spa was great especially outside facilities. Room was comfortable with a large window over looking gardens. Booking in was smooth. Large wedding at time of our stay didn’t affect us as tired but prob would have liked to have known when booking. Breakfast service was slow as not enough staff. Staff in breakfast room were doing their best under circumstances and remained polite, Parking was poor as wedding guests had priority.

2/10 Poor

Was somewhat disappointed to say the least. More than half the jets were out of order in the outdoor jacuzzi. No bar service outside. Pool was inaccessible to someone with back issues. The shower outside the steam/sauna wasn’t working. Our room had no view other than a storeroom door and a wall covered in artificial ivy. The shower tap kept falling off. At 1am it sounded like the pool was being flushed out and our room stank of sewage, not for the first time. Grounds are lovely and we did have the pleasure of a peacock at the window at 7am

A difficult review to write. This property is confused in its decor and offering. The hotel needs a real re focus in our opinion to bring it up to standard. This felt a lot more like a 2-3 star property. The cleanliness was average. There was a huge collection of cigarette butts on the level below our window. There was a lot left to be desired around the entire property for cleanliness. The fact towels need to be collected from reception for the spa which you're not told until changed is a joke. £7 to rent a robe.. joke. Told breakfast starts at 730 then when you get there to be told 8am is a joke. Then Vegan options left a lot to be desired. There was plastic bottles around the grounds, spilled wine out the front of the property, remnants of a wedding left in communal areas and the spa was cramped and not relaxing. This could be a wonderful property under the right hands but I would put this on par with a travel lodge with a pool.
