We recently visited Atlantis Bahamas with our family, including young children, and had high hopes given the resort’s reputation. Unfortunately, the experience left a lot to be desired.
We had been offered an upgrade before arrival, which we accepted, but upon check-in at the Coral Tower, the upgrade wasn’t honored. The room itself was in rough shape, with a wardrobe door barely hanging on and overall poor maintenance. When we requested an upgrade, they initially declined, but after walking over to the Reef Tower, they agreed to an upgrade for a significant additional cost. The suite at the Reef Tower was a noticeable improvement and much more comfortable.
One downside across the hotel was the excessive air conditioning; it was uncomfortably cold in many areas, which seemed wasteful and unnecessary.
The service left room for improvement as well. Several staff members appeared disengaged, chatting amongst themselves rather than attending to guests. The manager responsible for towel and wristbands was particularly rude, given we were paying over $1,000 a night we expected top-tier service. Vanessa at the Reef check-in desk—she was fantastic and really made us feel welcome. The breakfast staff were also friendly and attentive.
Food was another letdown. Prices were extremely high, and the quality didn’t match. Many restaurants were closed.
Despite these setbacks, the resort’s facilities and the beautiful sea surrounding were wonderful however we would not rush back
