Big spacious room. Carpets are tired, and stained so need replacing. Apart from that a good room. Breakfast good. Staff lovely. Hotel is in a great position for the Playhouse, numerous eateries, pubs and shopping centre.

Cleanliness needs attention to detail
We sripped the bed of bed sheets duvet cover and pillow cases, the matress protectior cover was stained with bits of blood and hopefully Not urine! But its not something you would check beforehand. Overall it was a good sleep. Just a bit disappointed in the cleanliness of the mattress protectior.

Stayed at this property before. Has ideal location if attending Playhouse theatre. Hotel is reasonably tidy with some areas needing some small touch ups and improvements . Bedroom was clean & tidy but layout has a couple of layout issues Room has desk but no mirror behind it and hairdryer and mirror at down near bedroom door, without a separate power socket for any other hair styling tongs or curlers Reading light on desk has a short cable which doesn’t allow position of lamp at other side of desk where there is more room for the chair Also no in- room safe and/ or refrigerator / chiller

Hotel was ok
Hotel was ok. The pillows not so comfortable, rooms very small, im 5ft 7 inches and i could touch the ceiling. Staff were very friendly. Area where breakfast is available is located in a very small area, chairs didnt look their best, some had foam coming away from the seating, leaving small holes. Breakfast itself was lovely. Do not take the room in 216, or near there, was woken up every morning before 6 and occassionally during the night with doors slamming every 10-15 minutes, these rooms are located next to two function rooms, a main stair well and the door leading onto the main corridor so didnt get the best sleep on both nights. Spoke to reception regarding the noise who knew i was on second floor before i even told her of my room number which to me means there have been many complaints, her reply was "dont accept that room again on booking another room" wont be booking with them again. Hotel room itself was clean, as was the ensuite.

A wonderful spot in Edinburgh
The location is ideal! It is a short walk from the train station with bus and tram stops steps away. Even though it is right on a busy road it is a quiet sanctuary. The room was a peaceful place to end every day of walking this gorgeous clean city. The breakfast buffet was a delicious way to begin each day. It was the only hotel in my price range that offered 2 twin beds in the same room. Unlike the US, a “double room” means 1 bed for 2 people.

"Room" for improvement
Easy check in, we went to drop of our bag but room was ready which was a bonus. Woman on check in was unfriendly no welcome, no smile. Room itself was as requested with view, it was spacious and clean. A few stains on carpet, desk below TV had lots of marks. Bleach ? stain outside bathroom door, sink had crack in it as did many tiles on bathroom floor. Shower good, powerful and nice scented toiletries. Tea and coffee making facilities fine. Breakfast was varied and very good, staff worked very hard and breakfast room continuously busy. An expensive stay with "room" for improvement. All in all a satisfactory weekend.

Edinburgh city centre stay.
Holiday inn express is quite a constantly good hotel chain.Room was not quite as comfy as usual due to lack of sofa,have stayed in several different holiday inn express always booking a double room Glasgow,aberdeen, edinburgh airport all with sofas.Breakfast on day one was good but on day two not so good some food was cold and the rolls were a bit stale. Overall still good value for money and very comfy beds.
