Bait and Switch + Terrible Customer Service
I was travelling with my wife and dog. I used the pet friendly filter to make sure to get a pet friendly rooms. I booked a single king bed room, non smoking, for 1 night. When I arrived at the hotel, the front desk clerk told me because of their pet policy I was not allowed to have the room I booked. She then said all she can do is give me a smoking room with 2 double beds. That was the only room she would let me have. When I asked if I could have a refund since she was not giving me the room I booked, she told me, since I booked through hotels.com I was not allowed to have a refund. The next morning, the same clerk, refused to print a copy of my receipt. She then called her manager, who I guess lives in the apartment above the front office, came downstairs, said it is Expedia 's responsibility to give me a receipt. After I strongly insisted he provide me proof of charge, he reluctantly provided me a copy of my receipt. Both the clerk and manager were wearing sweatpants and slippers. Customer service 101 says provide the room I booked or give me a refund, instead they locked me into a bait and switch. My wife and smelled of cigarette smoke the whole 6 hour drive home after staying in that room. Which also led to us having increased coughing and sneezing since we are non smokers and it irritated our nasal passages. The staff refused accountability and just kept blaming Expedia. I felt like I was being discriminatefld because I used Expedia.
