once entered property the gentleman at reception told us casually that lift is not working and room just on second floor.Stairs were steep. Rooms very small, no hot water in the morning. Breakfast had no choice, either full breakfast or just toastwith eggs. cereal was offered as well. cold roooms but after asking had heater given to us. Pool table present but not working. Reception not maned but someone came after pressing bell for long time

Lift wasn't working .We are both over 70 and had rooms on 4th floor. Bar didn't open and drinking own alcohol on premises prohibited. Booking for one couple in our party was lost so they had anxious wait to get room which didn't have a sea view. No hot water at 6.am. Lack of bar had major impact or on our social plans. Poor service in some areas.
I did not know the hotel was very limited to check-in times to 4pm only! This meant I was unable to leave my luggage until the room was ready. There is only WiFi accessible in the lobby area not where else in the hotel. The breakfast was fine. I was incorrectly charged twice when I arrived which I had to contact. The staff took my credit card and charged me for the stay, Hotels.com had also charged by card. I did not become aware of this until I got home, I am still awaiting for this to be refunded. Hotels.com blamed the staff at the hotel.

The external flowers were a nice touch … the rest of the guest house (it’s NOT a hotel) was a disgrace … by far the worst place I’ve stayed in in 60 years. The lift apparently hasn’t worked for years, the room was pokey, cracked wallpaper, a loose WC that moved when sat on, spiders’ webs were in the bedroom, hard bed … just an absolute nightmare. I asked for another room on day 2 (I was room 3) to be advised they had none … they did. Have Expedia ever vetted the Trevelyan? I paid £805 for my stay and I’m not happy … I’d like you to revisit what you charged or I’ll not be using you again.

Great location
We stayed 3 nights at this lovely family run hotel. The beds were all super comfy , the breakfast perfect size avoiding any waste and also very tasty, they even reserved a table for the 3 of us each morning which was amazing. A few bits to improve to have someone always checking for arriving guests . We were lucky as we were served nearly as soon as we arrived but I checked some guests in the following days that waited over 1 hr to be checkin in. This is definitely something that needs to be improved, also taxi services are scarce so for someone with not a local phone having to make calls to several taxi supplier on their own phone can be expensive . My feedback is the the hotel needs to fixed the recepción phone or offset to call taxi for customers . Apart from that all great this is why I give 4 start instead or 5
