Troutbeck Inn

The couple that run the inn are amazing. They never stop and nothing is too much trouble. Food amazing

So much for their slogan of "Always receive a warm welcome!". The front door was locked and after ringing the bell a couple of times someone answered the door carrying a tray of dirty crockery. They were clearly rushed off their feet because we were told to just go upstairs the key was in the door to our room and that was virtually it. We asked if we could come down and sit in the bar and have a drink and were told there were no tables. We were not told we could sit outside an order a drink, because we were not allowed to order a dink anywhere! We went upstairs and checked out our room which was shabby and had a broken stool by the dressing table. We had a bottle of wine with us so a bit later we took that outside but on the way down i spotted a couple of empty tables so asked a waitress if we could sit there and have a beer and she said no they they were fully booked. We were outside for about 45 minutes taking us to around 10pm and went inside only to see most by which time there were even more empty tables! The other thing that made this one of the most unpleasant places I have stayed at was the stench of rotting fish. This was overpowering and even leached into our room. The lady serving at breakfast was very pleasant, but breakfast was not great. Instant coffee in a cafetiere, watery mushrooms and a runny poached egg. Could never come back here again.

Convenient location to lakes Menu a bit dated - not something one would think too jmuch about after a good walk and one could be tempted to eat elsewhere other than for drink driving

Did exactly what it said on the tin - accessible, basic but entirely ample, great dinner and tasty breakfast for a reasonable price. Would go again, price depending.

Excellent COVID precautions in place.

Room smallish but pleasant, no wifi though out of reach, nice views, very clean, bathroom door wouldnt close so rattled a bit. Food hood staff helpful snd engaged , would stay gain

great position, food and accommodation.

Very nice pub/hotel run by people who care about what they are doing. The breakfast was spectacular!!

Absolutely brilliant, the hosts where amazing, very friendly, service was first class and food excellent, would highly recommend the troutbeck inn 👌

Stay with friendly staff. Room had no chairs. food very good
