The El Salto log home and cabins was the perfect setting for my large group (13 adults) visiting Taos for an unforgettable week of skiing. Since the property has 3 buildings and many bedrooms, each guest had sufficient privacy. The main house was fantastic for everyone to meet for dinners. We loved the front porch view into the valley and we treated our sore muscles sitting in the big hot tub and watching the sun set on Lucero Peak. We've taken many ski vacations and stayed in lots of homes and condos, but El Salto was our best group stay ever!

We love this location and accommodation set up. There is nothing we would change and even plan to make this house trip and annual stay. Close to the mountain, close to downtown and breathtaking views.

Horrible! We had this place booked for months. The management company was aware that there wasn't water in the smaller cabin for WEEKS but waited until the night before our arrival to notify us. Of course, we didn't have time to find another place so we were stuck. They offered us about 10% back on what we paid for the inconvenience. We weren't able to check in at 4:00, so the fifteen of us had to wait while they finished "cleaning." They implied that this was due to them having to address the water situation in the smaller cabin, but later admitted they've been trying to get a plumber for weeks to come make a repair. This place is in dire need of a thorough cleaning and some TLC. There were lot of cobwebs, dust, hair in showers, etc. Many of the kitchen appliances are working poorly. and/or inconsistently. The burners of the stove didn't always work, refrigerator wasn't as cold as it should be. Microwave use tripped the circuits. The outside grill wouldn't stay hot. The location is quiet, the grounds are nice. There was room for everyone. We didn't use the hot tubs. This house is not ideal for the elderly. It has a step down livingroom which is a major trip hazard. There is tape placed on the floor around the perimeter in order to try to alleviate this problem. The main floor king bed was too tall for my small, elderly mother to climb. For the amount that they are charging, it only seems fair to expect clean lodging and working appliances. For this reason, I would not recommend this property.

We were celebrating as a family. Both cabin were cute and accurately describe. The main house is were we spent most of our time. It's beautiful. Kitchen well stocked with everything you need. Both patios were nice and had comfy furniture. Hot tubs looked nice but we did not use them. Paths were well lit and graveled.

This VRBO property was amazing and breathtakingly beautiful. The pictures in the listing do not do it justice! The main house has a beautiful large kitchen (stocked with spices and spare chairs!) incredible mountain views, and a luxurious master bedroom on the main floor with some sleeping arrangements upstairs as well. The two guest houses are steps away and in great condition. Both hot tubs were amazing and cozy. The property manager was attentive and easy to get a hold of. Beware that if it’s snowy outside, you do need a 4-wheel drive! :) Overall, we would HIGHLY recommend this spot - don’t hesitate to book it if it’s available!

The property is located in a beautiful area. The house and casitas are very nice but the home and casitas were not clean. There were cobwebs, the floors had not been mopped, dust on the furniture, I could go on. I did communicate this to property manager when we arrived. We also found a dead bird under pillows in the living room. If this property had a thorough cleaning it would be a great place to stay.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: a pretty place-- but with a lousy stove. Stove doesn't heat well-- so we cooked in one of the lesser houses on the property. -- but the rest of the experience was great.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had 15 adults and 3 babies stay at El Salto over Christmas week 2014. The location was perfect for our group of skiers and non skiers. It took 15-20 min to get to town and about 25 min to the ski area. The property itself when driving up was beautiful. The caretaker was there finishing up in the smaller cabins and let us enter the main house. The main house was spacious and the master bedroom/bath was a great size. All beds were comfy in the main home. The guest cabin had 2 rooms and a loft. The loft stairs were extremely steep and probably not safe for anyone with bad knees, young kids or even older adults. We had a college kid from our group stay up there. It was a little cramped with 5 adults staying in the cabin especially when it came time to cooking and sitting around. Beds were comfy in the rooms as well. Kitchen lacked several items and was not organized. Towels were not of quality in the bathrooms or kitchen. The private house was perfect for one couple. 2 couples in there would've been cramped. The bed in the room was not comfortable so they preferred to sleep on the queen sofa bed. The jacuzzi outside of the cabin did not look clean so none of the jacuzzis were used. Each person paid $92 a night for couples that was $184. For the price several member of the group were disappointed in the cleanliness of the cabins. There were cobwebs/spiders and dust on fans, ceilings and baseboards. All the cabins ran out of toilet paper. For 1 person to have to be in charge of getting the houses ready for the next incoming group is impossible. It would take a team of people to get this home ready for such large groups. This place has so much potential and is great for large groups. Premiere properties was very helpful in booking this place and worked with us every step of the way. I would book with them but not sure if I'd book the whole property again. Maybe just the main house.
