Well I appreciated the bigger than normal Italian shower, thank you, but there seems to be an aversion to having soap holders in the actual showers, 4 th place in a row on my Italian sojourn without a soap holder, basic but tasty breakfast reasonable choice, property set in an orange grove, enjoy the animals roaming around, good for kids and a break from high density Italian cities, yes I liked it there and would recommend.

If you're looking for an American-style 5* hotel, then this probably isn't for you, but if you're looking for somewhere with real character, beautiful furniture, a delicious home-made breakfast, excellent staff and a warm welcome, then you have found the right place. The hotel has extensive grounds in a quiet countryside setting and next to a nature reserve. The owners could not be more helpful and welcoming. There is no restaurant for an evening meal, but there are plenty to choose from in Syracuse, an easy 10-minute drive away. I stayed for a week and thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is a wonderful accommodation. The hostess and staff were excellent and helpful. The breakfast was a nice plentiful buffet served under a grapevine covered gazebo. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The hostess also suggested several local restaurants that were excellent.

Consigliatissimo!

Had a wonderful four day break. The owner, her son’s and staff were wonderful. The place is beautiful and located on a small farm with well cared for animals and lemon groves. No dinner service yet due to COVID but breakfast served well with the best selection we had in Sicily.

Agriturismo Papyrus is a real gem, hidden in the ‘back’ blocks of Syracusa. The property is a wonderful private resort with an animal nursery and a museum. We were met by Marco who spent significant time answering all our questions about Syracusa. His English is great too! When we checked out the following day Bianca took us through the magnificent deviate museum and shared her love of Syracusa’s History with us. We were then welcome to relax in the beautifully manicured grounds till our departure time. Highly recommended!

Amazingly peaceful country house
Stunning and very well-run country house. The rooms are fabulous, soundproofed and comfortable. Christa, Marco and all the staff are friendly, helpful and informative. The breakfast is amazing - hot food, fresh warm bread and an array homemade cakes and pastries, yoghurts, cereals etc, and the best coffee! The pool area and garbdens are very well maintained. The only downside was that there is no cafe/restaurant - even for lunch. They only serve drinks and coffees until 7.30pm. You can bring food in and the staff will happily supply crockery and cutlery but it would have been lovely to have had some snacks availably during the day so you didn't have to go out to the shops - even a small a choice of ready made sandwiches would have been great (and they would make a killing!!). It would also have been nice to have some music in the bar area just quietly playing in the background. That would have enticed more people to sit in the bar , especially in the evenings. Apart from that, it was a pleasure to stay there and have the peace and quiet of the countryside, and seeing the gorgeous animals was a bonus, goats, chickens and donkeys made it a really pleasant and

Set in a rural and tranquil area, a good base for exploring the surrounding areas. Marco, Krista and the rest of the staff were lovely and very helpful. The little museum on site is fascinating! As the hotel has no restaurant, you do have to travel out each night for dinner, with the nearest restaurant 15 mins drive away.

There aren't enough superlatives for Ag. Papyrus!
I don't know quite how to begin to review this most wonderful place except to say that it was the best place we stayed in in Sicily for so many reasons. We had travelled by train from England to Sicily and Syracuse was our final stopping place before returning to Palermo and our long two day train trip home. From past experience we knew that we would be fairly tired after three action packed weeks sightseeing so plumped for somewhere peaceful but also close enough to Syracuse to make our trips into the city by hire car short and straightforward. We drove into the grounds of Agriturismo Papyrus, and the gate was opened by a very smiley owner who showed us to the car parking space. He, Marco, turned out to be the kindest, most charming and helpful man( as are all his staff) and check in went smoothly. We were shown a well-stocked library (mostly Italian books but some in English and other languages) and a beautiful sitting room that we were encouraged to use. We were then taken across and through beautifully planted gardens; bougainvillea, hibiscus, pomegranate, tropical trees (to mention but a few) to a lovely 'cottage' in the grounds with a comfortable bedroom including a beautiful antique wardrobe, a sitting room with sofa, t.v., desk and well-stocked fridge. The bathroom had a shower with very hot water and plenty of space. There was also an outside table and chairs in a lovely courtyard.Great breakfasts too We were treated so well. Nothing too much trouble.
