Castle views at the center of visitor attractions
Great hotel at the heart of the action. The main trail head for visiting Castle Neuschwanstein is right outside the front door. Beautiful lake 200 yards to the right. It couldn't be more central to the main sights in the area. Restaurant is very good too. Good shower and comfortable beds and my room had a view of the castle!

Decent hotel in a small village
We enjoyed our stay but there were a few things that should be mentioned. This small village literally closes down after the castle tours are over. The hotel restaurant does not offer a bar or even a place to have a drink and appetizer before going for a later dinner. The restaurant closes at 9:00 pm. The room was really nice and clean. We had a large terrace and that was a bonus. The mattress was old and had that typical indentation in the middle from being slept in too many times. The bedding was not soft, but I may be a bit more particular than others when it comes to high quality bed linens. Overall I would recommend spending one night for convenience but two nights felt like it was one too many for us. As there is absolutely nothing to do besides tour the castles and nature. The beautiful nature and access to Alpsee was the highlight of our stay.

Amazing hotel!
The staff was incredible. Loved how accommodating and informative the front desk was. I’m sure they get a ton of tourists all the time, yet they still were super helpful and spent the time to make sure we knew when and where to go to get to the two castles. Also! I had completely forgotten to reserve yours for the castles and they were quick to ask whether we needed tickets. They had their staff wake up early to pick up tickets for the very first scheduled tour. This saved us a ton of time and energy, where we wouldn’t need to wake up early to get in line and buy tickets. And lastly the accommodations are nice and clean. The location is also fantastic; you can see both castles right from the entrance and the start of the walking path and shuttle pickup spots are a few feet away.
