The check-in experience was weird. I was told the room wasn’t ready on arrival which was fine. I said we would go to lunch, paid for the room and car parking and the hotel said they would call me when the room was ready. I didn’t receive a call and when I returned back to reception to see if our room was ready they had no booking for me. Questioned me if I booked it in another name which I hadn’t and called over the initial guy who served me and they couldn’t find my booking. Turns out the guy changed the booking from my name into the name of one of my friends for what reason I’ll never know because I booked and paid for the room. It was very clumsy and a little unnerving and embarrassing in front of my friends. Other than that, it was nice.

Sub-standard experience overall
Ridiculous long wait for an elevator. Hard surfaces that render the unit anything but homely. Very high credit card surcharge. Requirement to furnish a lot of personal ID data that gets recorded, just to check in. Internal bathroom with no exhaust fan. To get Wi-Fi you have to agree to receive marketing info from Merriton - why? Seems youthful guests like this place, and they like to make a lot of noise on the floor, waiting for an elevator. Mine was really a sub-standard experience overall.

A Great Stay
Fantastic. Ocean views and everything you need to have a lovely stay eg. Dishwasher hot plates, microwave, full size fridge, washing Machine and dryer etc in a studio apartment. Will be back. Parking also reasonable at $12.

Numerous issues-would not recommend.
Good location, convenient for convention centre and local restaurants and the beach. Issues for me were as follows: The building is being renovated and the brand new, state of the art lifts are dreadful. Expect to wait between 4-6 minutes at busy times (yes really). Room on 7th floor at front of hotel was not well sound proofed, expect lots of noise from traffic and especially the light rail just outside (which runs from 5am-midnight and 24 hours at weekends) Bed was not at all comfortable, woke up with back ache every day (I spend a lot of time in hotels and can sleep just about anywhere). I booked as 2 separate stays, I wanted to link these bookings and remain in the same room throughout but was told that wasn’t possible, I had to pack, check out and check back in again. On the plus side the 2nd room was ocean facing and on 20th floor, so much quieter. Note that if you’re planning to use the kitchen that no cleaning things are supplied - you’ll need to bring your own washing up liquid, t-towel, sponge, cloth, dishwasher tabs etc. No hot water on one morning, not great when you’re trying to get ready for a conference. First and last stay here for me, will seek an alternative next time.

Too hard with this place
Chad 2 bookings. Linked at check in, one room card provided. Then at end of first booking got a call to say I was late checking out and would be charged additional fee. Spent half hour on ph with them to try and sort out, and had to come back to get key re coded…… with hotel making me feel like they were doing e a favour. Really poor communication on this at check in and terribly handled. Major corporate booking for our company with multiple rooms. Too hard with this place. Not too mention the walking around the building to get to lifts, and no instructions on how to use the new lifts - which are high tech rubbish. Not staying here again.

Great spot for a quiet couples get away!!! Room was amazing as was the view and the staff. Only thing that was a small inconvenience was the lifts were slow to arrive however the hotel did email advising work was being done to them prior to the visit.
