2/10 Poor
Feb 28, 2023
The staff are wonderful people and the room and Riad is nicely decorated. The bed mattress is hard as a rock and needs replacing. The breakfast is basic and needs improvement.
The management is corrupt. They arranged a guide for my wife and I to show us around the Medina Area. The guide (Youssef) put us in high pressure sales situations at stores where he obviously receives a commission. We naively bought goods at these stores that were 2 to 3 times higher in price over market value (we later found the same exact goods at other stores for less than half the price). We mistakenly assumed that any guide the Riad Olema recommends would be honest and would have our best interest at heart. Unfortunately that was not the case. We believe the manager (Alexandra) knows this takes place for when I complained she said they have arranged for the guide (Youssef) many times with hotel guests and never had a complaint, yet an employee of the Riad told us that other hotel guests have complained to him personally of the same problem. Also, the Riad Manager refuses to stop using the guide Youssef even after our complaints. The only rational conclusion we can surmise is that the management and/or Riad Olema must be receiving a financial incentive in return for allowing their guests to be swindled. I’m sure the management will try to refute these statements below but this is the honest truth of what happened.
