Superb visit to this beautiful hotel/Manor House. We went for the King Charles suite and it was well worth the upgrade - beautiful room and very comfortable. Stunning location - just need another pub to open in the village!

beautiful building and welcoming staff. unfortunately after a long drive and looking forward to decent nights sleep, pillows were very uncomfortable although that’s probably my preference. all in all would revisit again .

Extremely difficult to find, no signage, behind locked gates. Hotel interesting building but room very small & grossly over heated. Heating difficult to turn off. Breakfast selfservice but ordinary. Overall over priced for what was offered…..disappointing

This place is not worth the money. There is no restaurant and the bar is only open when someone is at the reception. The reception is unattended from 8pm and didn't feel very welcoming. Our room had no towels and they seemed unapologetic when we asked the next morning for them. There were dirty plates and glasses and empty bottles in our room on arrival and the super-king mattress advertised was infact just 2singles pushed together which for a romantic weekend was uncomfortable. This place could be so nice but really missed the details.

The main house might be nice but avoid the Hayloft room in the Stables annex. It feels like a converted storage room, with storage still visible in an open void above bed. We felt uncomfortable as this area was not accessible to us and it wasn't clear who might have access to this. Other issues - the room was extremely cold even in the summer due to the stone floor and lightweight build of the walls. There was a portable heater in the room and when we turned it on we got an electric shock. As this is dangerous we removed it from the room and took it to reception and asked for the radiator heating to be turned on as the heating could not be controlled in the room itself. We asked three times during the next few hours, we were promised each time that this would happen, but it never did and we had an unpleasant cold night wearing extra clothing in bed. No-one offered us extra blankets or an alternative means of heating the room. The bathroom was also hazardous, with the bathroom light switch and towel rail loose. The door had 3 opaque window panels (again, not really like a bedroom??) and no means of covering them which meant we were awake as soon as it was light at 5:30am. We won’t be back.

Beautiful and posh B&B in a small village but, with a few smaller issues. Myself and my partner stayed for 1 night in the "newly renovated stables". You could tell the renovation had been rushed or somewhat overlooked as there were grout missing out of the tiles in the bathroom and you could see they had only painted around the ceiling not the whole ceiling. Small things like the coffee and tea facilities, yes they were provided but there was no spoon to stir. There is a restaurant in the B&B but we couldn't get a table, i would of thought priority would have been given to paying guests with Painswick being such a small village and only a select few other places to dine which were all full at the time of our visit. Notwithstanding these small blips the service was outstanding and the staff first class. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

For an expensive luxury hotel are experience was very poor. Our booking was accepted by the hotel and then changed so that access to the hotel and gardens was non existent. Housekeeping had to be chased and there was never anyone on reception. We had to sign a disclaimer agreeing to pay for any minor damage before we were given the keys and whilst we had paid in advance they insisted we produced ID! There were no restaurant facilities available to us and access to the hotel was a nightmare as the entrance was constantly blocked by builders vans. Give this hotel a miss

I would never stay here again in the summer. Top floor, window a 6" x 6' and just a little fan. I thought we were going to die. I can't blame the hotel- they are not prepared for the heat- I just know I will always check hotels in the summer for working A/C

Lovely stay at the Court House in Painswick. My only negative comment is that given their restaurant was taken over by a private party for our whole stay and that Painswick is a pretty small village they could have provided better information ideally in advance on good alternative places to eat on Sunday evening. We were misdirected to a pub that was closed for dining and missed out on a local bistro that would have been great. Notwithstanding this small blip the service was outstanding and we don’t hesitate to recommend it.
