Absolutely amazing. Lovely rooms and cosy restaurant. The new chef Ross should be very proud. He is an amazing chef and the food was unbelievable. We ate like kings for the whole weekend! The bar manager Rye is a wonderful asset to front of house. Well mannered and Polite and helpful in every way.
Pub was OK, but poor on the 'hotel' side. On arrival we found our room was a triple room, so rather overcrowded. We booked a double & as far as we could tell we were the only overnight guests. When we tried the main light it was flickering & buzzing. We could find no sign of a hospitality tray. We mentioned light & hospitality tray to bar staff. She called her boss who said sorry about light but nothing could be done until the next day, we had to manage with side lights over bed, not ideal. I was told there was tea & coffee but they were in a dressing table drawer. Why would you hide them away in a drawer? Hardly hospitable. Tried to shut window as road so noisy but handle was broken. In the morning found no hand towels. It took the shower 3/4 minutes to start getting warm. Also 1/2 the shower enclosure doors were damaged, had slipped down & didn't close properly. Full English Breakfast was included, but when my husband said he would like sausage bacon & fried egg, he was told they did not do fried eggs in the morning, only scrambled. Who has heard of not offering fried eggs with a full English? I chose sausage, bacon & tomato. When the breakfasts came my husband's had sausage, bacon & scrambled egg as requested, but also hash brown, 1/2 a tomato (which he detests) & baked beans. Mine had just the sausage, bacon and 1/2 a tomato - Not sure why this favouritism was shown?I ended up leaving mine as half way through eating I found a long black hair.,and No I didn't report it!
The pub has lots of charm and character. We were made to feel very welcome
Everyone who works there was very welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. Good location for walking south downs. Rooms clean and tidy. Great breakfast. Excellent value for money. Would be excellent all round if bathrooms given a bit of update.
Very good
Value for money Great breakfast Clean ròom but small Friendly staff Made our dog very welcome Only downside is you need to use the fire escape to go in and out - no good to me as i cant do heights and you needed to walk over roof then down open stairs No good for the dog as he was scared and not paw or claw friendly
On a Saturday night wenwere the only cusromers. Tje coridor to the bedrooms smelt of chop fat andnwas cluttered with laundrey sacks amd piles ofnwood
Does what it says on the tin! Friendly staff and dog. Bedroom warm, bed comfortable, breakfast excellent, good location. For the money I paid, no issues.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Comfortable bed. Felt room was too small to have two bed in and overall the hotel needs rather a lot of tlc.
The staff were very helpful but there was an open rift between the management and the amenities were very tired
