2/10 Poor

When checking in we were told our room was ready but when we went to our room , house keeping was still cleaning the room. I was not upset at all because I understand these things happen. The house keeping women told us that it would be about 5 more minutes. So I waited another 15 minutes before checking again. However, she was still cleaning the room. Again I was not upset so I went back down to the lobby to wait. As I was waiting, the front desk attendant offered to upgrade me free of charge to a better room that was ready. I took him on his offer. Later that evening my wife and I went out for dinner only to return and our key card not to work. When I went to the front desk , the attendant interrogated me as if I wasn’t the person who checked in to the room. He proceeded to tell me that he previously checked an older couple into our room and they said that their were people’s stuff already in the room and “a man with a gun” was in the room. The front desk person thought the old man was joking but wasn’t sure. When I asked to speak to a manager, there was no manager on site. He was on the phone the entire time. This place is extremely unprofessional but has great potential. Also there were dirty towels and bedding in the room.

OK but not for the price I paid
The room and bed were very comfortable. The staff was excellent, and the garden and patio were nice. For the price I paid for parents weekend at UCSB I'll pass on this hotel in the future. A couple small items would really make this place better. The lighting in the bathroom was horrible, there is no way you could see to apply makeup. The blow dryer was so small and useless it seemed like it was for Barbie not a woman. No coffee supplies, and the bathroom was just very dated. If it wasn't so expensive I'd give it a pass, but 300 dollars a night, this was not worth the money.

Disappointing
Several power outlets did not work No Do Not Disturb placard available, so housekeeping could bang on your door at any time. Basic things missing that cheaper hotels do not miss.

Ok stay
Check in was great friendly nice atmosphere. Hotel room is outdated. Old linens, tv remote didn’t work. Don’t think will come back.

Super flat greeting. No elevator nearby to get to my second floor room. Carried bags upstairs. For the price the property really needs some TLC; paint, some decor, something that feels welcoming.

Nice place for a short stay
Note that this place is a motel, although that's not obvious from the site. A reasonable place to stay, not cheap, but nothing is in Santa Barbara.

This hotel is very dated. There was a big crack in the ceiling. The bed was like sleeping on the floor. I took the largest pillow and put it under my back and slept on that. I learned a lesson--if it doesn't say "premium bedding" on the listing, I will no longer stay there. We skipped the shower, too. The staff at check in was very nice but she circled the wrong room so we moved our car to the back. It turns out our room wasn't even listed on the map and it was near the lobby. Breakfast was pricey but really good though.

Lemon Tree feels like a midcentury tropical resort. Very nice landscaping, spacious rooms. The staff was amazing, especially Frankie who helped us solve what was a minor problem but he put in a major effort. David at the front desk was efficient and courteous (and the front desk was very much understaffed at peak check in time).

Love the Lemon Tree
The Lemon Tree is a very cute, well maintained hotel. The room smelled so clean and fresh when we came in. The courtyard was so pretty and relaxing. Nice balcony and comfortable beds. Definitely a place we would stay again!
