Hotel Galena exceeded our expectations. The hotel was conveniently located within easy walking distance to the downtown shops and restaurants. The property, located in an old historic building, was clean and attractive and the rooms were renovated, modern and quiet while still maintaining the historic charm of the original building. The owner, Nate was friendly and helpful, offering tips on local sites to visit and restaurants to try. We felt welcomed and would definitely stay at Hotel Galena on a future visit to the area.

You can't beat this location if you want to wander around Galena and the riverfront! Everything felt clean, safe and we had everything we needed, if in a bit of strange and old-world set up! This is an old building with lots of "charm", but as long as you are prepared for that you'll have a lovely stay.

Nate (the owner) goes above and beyond to make your stay in Galena fantastic. The hotel was well maintained with charming accomodations and patios with large tables and umbrellas, perfect for gathering with your group (or enjoying a quiet evening with a book) outdoors. If you're looking for things to do, Nate has you covered with an informative binder in your room and can answer any questions you might have. My only word of caution is that the street the hotel is located on is busier than one might expect. While the traffic noise isn't bad, there is a train that blows its horn at all hours of the night. You'd hear the train horn at any hotel in downtown Galena, so it's not a mark against the hotel, just something I wish I had known about beforehand.
