We were on our way from Salzburg to Venice and needed a place to stay for one night between the two locations. We chose Hotel Olimpia because of its location in Cortina d'Ampezzo, a breathtakingly gorgeous mountain town, and price. Parking was free and a snap as the lot was right next to the hotel. There's a long flight of stairs to get to the front door, so if you're elderly or not in the best shape, beware. If this isn't a concern, then it is fine for a night or two, although I must say that the room we were given was tiny and could have used some TLC. For instance, a lamp shade was tattered and needed replacement, the walls were in need of paint and repair and the towel heater was quite dusty. We did enjoy the included breakfast, however, and staff members were friendly and helpful. Most restaurants were closed the evening of our arrival, but there was one within walking distance that the hotel owns. The food and service were both good. We also appreciated a man in the downtown area who helped us find the hotel because it's a bit off the beaten path. Thank you, AARP-Expedia and Hotel Olimpia, for the chance to give my feedback.
The rooms were very dated. The carpet was stained and in need of replacement. Noisy hallway. Staff was very accomodating and the free breakfast was very good. Location was excellent and beautiful surroundings
Room was clean, but carpets old and looked dirty. On first entry room filled with pungent air freshener, presumably to cover up later detected smell of cigarette smoke. Central location, somewhat difficult to find by car, and no free parking. Good breakfast.
The hotel is a little bit old and the room is noise because there is a bar under my room. They shout in the mid night and we cannot sleep well
I am extremely pleased. Repeat for non-pretense.
The hotel smelled like smoke. Our room (44) was hot and stuffy with no airflow. The windows were open onto the public patio area so offered little privacy unless you kept the shutters closed ( which added to the stuffiness of the room).
Not particularly awesome view of the mountains but still nice. Room fine. Breakfast good.
I loved Cortina and the location of the property is great. Sorry to be negative because I stay in a lot of hotels and am pretty understanding...BUT, I booked last year in August 2018 for a June 2019 stay. I paid in full. When I got to the hotel with a friend who booked much later he was given a room on the 2nd floor and I on the first. The hotel has no elevator and a large staircase from the parking lot so if you have large luggage you have to carry it up yourself. Then I got to my room, yuck! 50 year old carpet stains and cigarette burns. My view of a home's back porch and a wall. The sounds I hear all the time into the night are of a restaurant or bar throwing tons of glass (breaking) and garbage into a container, other loud people yelling and laughing so I could never keep my windows open at night. The room was hot. Paint on the wall chipping, the bathroom had chipping paint and dirty tiles. I also had another door that did not work but was right across the hall from the breakfast room and the maid's closet so I was woken by those sounds at 6am every day. My friend on the 2nd floor had a nicer room with wooden floors because he paid a bit more for his room. I would never stay here again. I asked several times to be moved but was told they were full....I was here for 4 nights. I thought most of the staff was nice and helpful. If you wish to stay here don't book any special rate offered.
